I just wrote on the thread about the chap on his phone at the Emirates that 'FaceTime'is the most pitiful, soulless and depressing expression ever.
I was wrong, of course. 'Unitary authority' is the sort of clinically functional term loved by lickspittle local civil servants and minor dignitaries - whilst the rest of us have no idea what it means and care even less.

what does a Lord Lieutenant do anyway?
It's a largely ceremonial role. The Lord Lieutenant is the Queen's representative and organises royal visits, recommends for honours lists, participating in civic voluntary and social activities etc.
