What's happened to the lovely place?
I had to visit Brighton this week for the first time in absolutely ages. It took 40 minutes to get from the bypass to the Old Steine and from Preston Park onwards the whole place looks so shabby.
We went for a walk from St Peter's through Pavilion Gardens down to near the pier at lunch time. In the Gardens there were at least three large groups of people using drugs, with no hindrance and giving a clear impression of this being usual behaviour. I guess allowing public drug use is Home Office policy but it doesn't make for pleasant viewing.
Because I was on business I didn't get to see much else. Tell me about the nice bits I must have missed.
