I remember it well, the bouncers were called the Hulk brothers. Had a fire soon after the big fight with the bouncers and that was that! I now work with one of the game lasses who was behind the bar... nuff said!!!! If no good we would go up the dyke hotel, upstairs to the disco, smallest dance floor ever known, multi coloured dance floor.... remember that? what a shite hole that was! bloody good fun though now looking back!

Baggy jeans, scampi in a basket, and absolutely shit music.

Oh god, the scampi in the basket!!!

I think they had to sell food to get around the after hours, licensing laws in those days.

My older brothers went there with mates in the 70's when it was Cinderella's.
It was on the west side of the old A23.

By the time I went there in the mid-1980's, it was called the Dance Factory.

.

And for a while a Roller Disco too wasn't it? Think I went to it in all three guises, seem to remember an early performance by Bronski Beat in there (as the Dance Factroy), or perhaps just the lead singer.

Quit all this shit - Coasters with Rory was the place to be

Oh yes, he was an absolute nutter, great videos of his bathroom!!!

Went once to see why people were going there... realised fairly quickly that I would never understand and never went again.

I shagged a couple of (female) twins there in 1987 . Blimey 24 years ands about 3 stone ago. But the thing was, they weren't twins they were cousins!! From Wivelsfield and two years later I ended up working with one of them at Bain Hogg/Clarkson/Aon in Haywards Heath. So there.

A tad too much information there me thinks.

Anyone who can remember Stroods should recall the Downs Hotel in Hassocks. It was run by a bloke called Captain David Brown and a load of his boyfriends. It was like the Wild West with about 500 people rammed into the basement dance hall and all the doors locked to stop people getting in for nothing. I once crawled in through a little window at the side, crossed a gloomy storeroom and catapulted myself through an unlocked door on the other side. Awkwardly, I was on the stage. Same stage that once carried Gene Vincent mind.

I remember the place well as Cinderellas or Stroods Motel. There used be a bus from there back to Brighton after it closed.

I was working at Bain Clarkson around 88/89.

No.

It was a Happy Eater.

A scene from the film "Mona Lisa" (Hoskins) was shot there.

What is now a car showroom was a Happy Eater - but that's nowhere near where Stroods was.

As someone else said, it's where the Friday-Ad place is now and the local "eaterie" was a Little Chef which was located opposite(ish) the Castle pub and would now be situated about 30 feet above the A23 if it were still there.

I was in the Finance Dept. Employed originally as a contractor to help with the amalgamation of Clarkson Puckle and Bain Dawes.

Clarkson Puckle! I remember some reference to Peek Puckle . I was 1st floor Harlands Road then moved onto Minories in 1991.

Do you remember the bar?

The bar in Harlands Rd? Yes. I only ever went to the Minories once, and was at the Harlands Rd site For 15 months. The Liverpool Arms amongst other locals was interesting to say the least. A proper local boozer.

Is the Burrell the one by the station? So long since I've been to HH. Used to go up to the Sergison Arms, the Sussex and when feeling really brave out to Lindfield at the Witch, which Gerry Ryan runs or used to run as not up to speed with current landlords.

I never get to HH much either, Bain Clarkson is now an old peoples home, the Sergison is now the Dolphin. The Liverpool has been raised to the ground and the Burrell is still a dump.
