Barrel of Fun
Abort, retry, fail
The Americans are very much coming across as 'Do as we say, not as we do'. The fact that Guantanamo still has prisoners is a testament to that.
As fun as this debate is, whether the CIA tortured any number of terror suspects doesnt even register on my giveashitometer. Mind you if they start parading their prisoners on the TV and forcing them to renounce Islam before brutally slicing off their heads then I might get a tad offended.
So, one form of barbaric treatment is ok and the other is not?
You cant compare waterboarding and treating suspects with proven links to terrorism a bit shit without killing them to get some information out of them and decapitating charity aid workers just for being westerners.

If what they did makes one 'terrorist' think again then that's ok with me.
Consider that many of those interrogated were not even trialled and may well have been innocent.
The greatest terrorist organisation in the world is the USA.

Agreed accept the USA are second ..... coming in first would be Israel.
What, even if you were one of ones held illegally ? You condone torture ?
Held illegally? - I'm sure they were all working 9-5 jobs with their 2.5 children when they were detained...you need to wake up and smell the coffee and take your blinkers off.

If you condone breaking international laws concerning the arrest and detention, international rendition and torture of UNCONVICTED detainees you are definitely as bad as the savage with the knife ready to behead.
You don't actually think that do you?
Situation 1:Yes, I do actually.
Personally, I am against the use of torture, but it's easy for me to be, because I don't have to live with the consequences either way, as I'm not in power. Which reminds me of Colonel Jessop:
"Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall."
