7 in 22 games for Hull is a decent record imo for a youngster.

The club in that press release have given themselves away here in fiddling with that stat. If they'd just written his full actual stats and let us take it or leave it I wouldn't have minded. Presenting his stats like this shows that at least someone at the club has doubts about his goal scoring record. That press release only mentions his record for last season, where he scored 7 in 22 STARTS which include a hatrick against BURY in the FA cup, and a goal against ACCRINGTON STANLEY in the league cup. The reality is that as far as his league record goes for his career to date, he's scored THREE goals in 29 starts, 10 of those starts at league 1 level where he didn't score any. He's made 27 sub appearances on top of that, and has NEVER actually scored coming off the bench....

Now having said all that, now that he has actually signed I think it's important to think positively about this signing. If Hughton and the recruitment team think that this lad is a lot better than his goal scoring record suggests, then that's enough for me. Hopefully the lad himself is hungry to start banging them in and improve on that goal scoring record.

I just wish they hadn't fiddled with those stats in that way though. Lies lies and damn statistics I suppose.

If he doesn't score many i wonder if he gets many assists?

His Wiki record for all clubs is 3 goals in 57 appearances ( league only). Perversely you can look at this positively, that he clearly has something about him to be played that frequently yet not hit the net. Hull played him 36 times and were only 3 goals behind Albion at end of season. That being said, suspect he won't last too long on NSC unless the scoring record changes.

7 in 22 games for Hull is a decent record imo for a youngster.

Lualua scored 8 goals in 95.

About 8 in 50 games of playing time.

Baldock scored about 12 in 50.

Makes sense by stats.

Like our summer signings, nothing special but strength in depth which in two out three seasons is crucial. Approved but not excited. .

3 in 25 games playing time. Not so impressive. He will have to improve.

Not really what I wanted to see. I wanted a speed merchant who could score away from home.

Question is, will he offer more than Manu? Yes as such we are stronger than we were before the window.

Is it the signing people wanted who knows? but if he scores a winner im sure we will be singing the clubs praises.

Pleased with this. I mentioned a month or two ago that this chap would be the ideal type of loan signing for us as cover/competition for Baldock. OK his scoring record is far from spectacular so far, but we've all seen how the team benefits from that element of pace, movement and workrate to stretch defences and provide an outlet for us. He's a great option to have.

Going by that goals reel though, we might need to have our cornerflags reinforced. This lad certainly likes a kung-fu kick goal celebration.

Of course he will. Have you forgotten how Manu played already?

As far as I'm concerned, he can smash up as many corner flags as he likes as long as he's doing it as part of a goal celebration. :goal:

Yeah Duffy and Murray are our two main summer signings really have been rather mediocre, Sidwell and Norwood haven't given us any strength in depth at all. If only the club had got it right in the summer we'd be sat in first now with a decent gap to 3rd instead of the position we currently find ourself in.

Not really what I wanted to see. I wanted a speed merchant who could score away from home.

Please name me a speed merchant who specifically scores away from home on a regular basis. You are not allowed to say Will Buckley, Lua Lia or Elvis Manu though as none of them fit your criteria.

I'm optimistic. I don't see why anyone would not be at this stage of the season considering the kid is coming in as a back up player.

Welcome aboard Chuba! Happy with this, especially as CH previously stated he was content with what we had etc. This can only help our cause. UTA
