One simply can’t entertain a starter on Christmas Day due to the potential volume of consumption involved in the main course, dessert and accompanying imbibed drinkies.

One must therefore only recommend a small amuse-bouche. Just a mouthful should suffice.

Who goes to a restaurant ever and is hungry after? That doesn't mean you don't order a starter.

Bizarre - one of my favourite starters and always has been (so long as there's garlic dip). Often order them from our local burger takeaway and have some in the freezer too!
