Perhaps that is a discussion to go and have with them. Not really relevant here.

Well it is.

History is repeating itself if we don't push back against ideologies based on falsehoods.

Imagine going back to a time where people were forced to believe in something that wasn't real.

No thanks.

Two questions, why was jesus unclothed while washing his disciples feet? And why feet? Surely washing someones back is more useful, I can reach my feet on my own.
It’s very dusty walking with sandals, and the first thing anyone did when entering a house was to remove their sandals and wash their feet.

There are more Muslims and Hindus than Christians, not even counting the Sikhs, Buddhists, Jews, and all the atheists.
Jesus nicked most of his material from the Buddha. Jesus just had a good PR company for the West, the Holy Roman Empire. Without them rampaging across Europe, and forcing a change of religion everywhere they went, Jesus would be a lot less well known. Seems the best way to grow your religion historically has been through kicking ass and imposing it on the subjects.
Not true. Christianity has 2.4 billion followers. Christianity is growing extremely fast in China despite being forbidden there.

The whole thing is somewhat confused by the question of what a Christian is.
There's true Christianity, which is what Jesus taught, and there is what humans have made of his teachings, and the two are often two quite different things. Being a Christian is not about becoming a member of a church. It's about believing in Jesus, believing in the resurrection, and seeking to follow Jesus in your daily life:
You are absolutely right that Christianity is confused - and so are you! Jesus taught salvation by loving your neighbour. It was Paul who added the stuff about the resurrection.

Jesus started a Jewish, messianic cult. Paul turned it into something very, very different.

Did you know that Christians are the most persecuted group in the world, it appears?

Mm, I'm not sure that's true. Those reports are from Christians. I imagine if we asked the reports to be done by Muslims or Jews that the findings would suggest that their religions are the most prosecuted.

Not that I doubt the general point, which is that different religious groups face persecution around the world, including Christians.

I just want to put on record that I did not say that there is no anti-Jewish persecution, and neither do I think that.
What I was questioning is the suggestion that Christians are particularly responsible for it.

Yes that's true. You had suggested there was some weight to the argument of Jesus being the son of god because he and his disciples would have to be incredibly clever to make their god up, but I pointed out that they didn't make him up, they weren't starting Christianity, they were continuing Judaism with the claim that Jesus was the Jewish Messiah. He wasn't (according to what the Messiah should be), so those who followed Jesus separated as a religion. In the years since, I said that the separate group (Christians) went on to persecute Jews.

You defended that Christians aren't currently responsible for Jewish persecution, rather than that Jews aren't persecuted at all.

And yet in 2023 the activist component of LGBTQ+ is acting like old school religious people.

If you don't believe in what we believe in you're bad and we will put labels on you to try and demonise you.

Transphobe is the new Heathen.

Note I said the activist component before some people get their knickers in a twist.

Believers seem to think, somewhat smugly IMO, that non-believers must live a life with no point or purpose as they lack religion. Not at all.

I follow the creed of Brian - "...."Try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations".

Certain parts of the creed of Brian correspond with the teachings of Jesus.

To be fair, popularity is a measure of neither truth nor quality. However you are right to rebut a falsehood.

Look at China. There are a few churches allowed as long as they fall into Communist guidelines.
The underground churches are growing massively despite persecution, and pastors imprisoned.

Brighton factually.....
1. It could be that way. There is evidence that that is the case.
You have not really answered the question, it is a simple yes or no ?
You either believe in the Adam & Eve story or Evolution, which is it.

2. Do I believe that the Christian God is false? No. All other gods? Well, there is only one creator.
Ok, my question was rushed, I meant.
2: Do you believe that the Christian God is the one true God, and all the others are false.
3. Based on the fact that I believe that Jesus was crucified for our sins, it doesn't to me make sense that that would happen if it were not absolutely necessary. Jesus prayed for the cup of suffering he was about to drink to be taken away if possible, but the answer he got back was that it was not possible. Hence I believe that there is no other way. Jesus is the only way.
Not really sure what you are on about, I do not need lectures or scriptures, I am asking do you think non believers will die and deserve to be sent to hell with eternal agony

I do not need to see propaganda, thank you very much, I have seen it all before.
