I doubt if records exist on players taking spot kicks towards the end of a shoot out though, as many of them will probably never have taken a penalty before.

Sorry, but that's hilarious. There might be one or even two but that's one of the reasons we have scouts who watch matches week in and week out.

What's hilarious about it? How many penalties have Lewis Dunk or Adam Webster taken for us? How much research could Tom King have done for Newport prior to the shootout?

I think your musings on this subject have been really strange.

A tad difficult for someone to make a record of how someone takes penalties if they have never taken them before wouldn't you say?

Glad l put a smile on your face though!

Not even scouts. The analysts have multi-angle access to full footage of every meaningful game the players are likely to have played, and cumulative data covering all those games. Before every game they’ll produce a multitude of stats on every oppo player.

My ‘musings’ as you call them come from some people at the club.
Here’s another one. Peter Brezovan saved quite a few penalties & he had a photographic memory. As dazzer666 says, the club have analysts & videos as well as scouts.
It’s rare for a player to have never taken a penalty to step up. Webster was unusual. Dunk took one in a penalty shootout at Millwall.

Naylor says he's off in the summer.

Cant blame him, possibly caught between being good enough to be a Championship starter and not quite good enough to be a PL starter. He would be a good number 2, but for sake of his own career, it makes perfect sense and I dare say he will get championship offers.

Does Naylor indicate any guesstimates to how much we might get for him?

at his age shirley a few mill?

Naylor says we are not taking up our 1 year option on Walton.

Which means he goes on a free and I can only assume is by way of a thank you for his time with us and to ensure he is off the wage bill for certain.

I think he's out of contract, in which case nothing.

In which case teams from (probably the lower end), of the Championship will be very keen to snap him up. Not much money will be spent this summer under the current climate.

Although we have seen next to nothing of him, he is one of our longest serving players.

Probably the best for him. A 25 year old should be out there playing somewhere rather than being the third keeper.

A little surprised he stuck around this long to be honest. Good luck to him and I hope he fulfills his potential.

He stuck around because were it not for his pre season injury and Championship clubs being unable to commit to loan signings, he'd be in Sanchez' place now, while Big Bob was getting middling reviews from somewhere like Cardiff.

T'is a funny old world.

He has another 10-15 years to fulfill his potential, this could have been his season if not for the pre-season injury. It's a bit sad it won't be with us, but all the very best to a good professional.
It'll be interesting to see if we get another number 2 or 3 to compete with Steele and Sanchez, or promote McGill or another U21.

Good luck to him and all that, but it’s bad business for us.
We are letting a multi million pound asset walk away for nothing.
