I said the other day that Chris Powell would be a shout. Very talented young manager who is also well respected in the game. Would be a good choice but I think he'd take a year or two to get to grips with the club
I wouldn't mind Powell either to be honest. Knows Jones and of course Dale Stephens. Respected coach who did a good job at Charlton. There are actually plenty of candidates out there...
If the aim is to get in someone for a long term appointment then I could certainly think of worse. He's young, well respected and clearly has head on correctly (not even slightly Di Canio).
If a more immediate impact is the aim then I'm not sure he'd be the way to go.
That said, he is immensely likeable, so sod it, just give him the job.
He'd fit in with the Garcia "Dignity" factor, he'd know the league and probably appreciate the opportunity more than some. I think some of the mooted targets would want a Prem club or a club with more money. With two managers leaving with finances a big issue some of the more high profile mooted candidates might think they'd struggle to get us up and therefore think it's not worth the gamble.
I think he could be a good fit but appreciate it doesn't get the pulse racing!
I see it as being a less a 'Yes man' situation and more a 'working within the limits we've set' one.
I can see why that wouldn't appeal to many managers, as they seem to have carte blanche elsewhere, but football is changing, I can see similar setups springing up all over the place before long.
