Thunder Bolt
Silly old bat
Oh dear.
He's on massive wages.
Apparently not a lot more than we offered but we woudnt raise it or give him a signing on fee which Palace did.
He's had a new contract since then, on Prem wages.
True. But will he get another Prem contract, or is he now facing the possibility of lower wages under his next contract?

I think you've got Lita & Obika mixed up. Lita scored in the league at Doncaster and Obika scored in the FA cup at Port Vale.
Exactly. I can understand the upheaval if he has kids and the hassle of schooling them, but that’s what the WAG’s sign up to. I am sure they will be fine though and if he does want to sign for a club up North he can put himself in the shop window by playing well for us.
Fair enough but the family knew they were going to move to Brighton or somewhere near when he signed the contract. The upheaval is if he goes out on loan for an extended period.

Exactly. The player signs the long contract which, presumably, he discussed with his missus. Then he wants to go back oop north. Surely, he has made the decision, and has to live with it? TBH I'm happy to see him go, but let's, unlike in the recent past, sign his replacement first, so we are not left exposed with a lack of strikers with physical presence. We just cannot afford to be in that position.
Back to O'Grady....... I think he is with us for a few weeks now but will be back to Sheffield if a deal can be brokered. They want to continue the loan. I hope we will stand firm on a permanent deal and get our money back.
Can't see it being sorted before the end of the window and if we play him, and he does as well as last night, we get time to look for the new manager's idea of a replacement while he gives us a different way of playing which will challenge opponents.
Exactly my thoughts. I saw enough in the 10/15 minutes at Fulham to suggest a new manager, playing him in the right position, can make a decent player out of O'Grady. You don't get 15 goals in a relegated team at this level without having ability. At the very least he's an option until we get a replacement but he may even be a decent long term option up front. Given that it's the cup on Saturday, I'd be tempted to start O'Grady and see what happens.
I really hope that now Hughton's here, we can offer a fresh start to all our players. I'm convinced that McCourt has a lot more to offer than Hyypia showed and Toko can't be useless as he was playing at a decent level of football before he came here. Maybe Hughton will actually give him a game! There are others as well. Colunga, Texeira and Bennett all looked a lot better on Monday than they had done under Hyypia, when played in front of a solid midfield pair (not JFC and Gardner).
I like the assumptions that he wants to go back up North! Of course, when he goes out on loan having seemingly been discarded by SH (who then goes to the media) he's thinking he's looking for new employers and will say what anyone would expect him to.
The fact is he made a decision to move south and sign a long term contract and I've not seen anything of any substance to say he doesn't want to commit to that .. I'd say give the fella a decent chance

His family have been in 4 different homes during the 4 months he has been here....It's not him but the family that have not settled.
For that reason and now we are in a position of strength a deal should be done (like the Dobbie deal...get your money back while you can)..
