A striker who is better than O'Grady would be a start. I doubt our Championship rivals will be quaking in their boots at the prospect of facing our strikers this year.

Who are they then?

I will willingly pay £50 to REMF if O'Grady joins us and scores more than 10 goals this season. Does anyone want to take me up on this?

Why does someone have to take you up on it? Can't you just make that vow on its own?

Honest answer, no. Mainly because I believe he'll be back up to our main striker rather than first choice. If he is first choice, I would be confident he'd get two thirds of the goals he got at Barnsley last season.

Who? A striker who got 16 goals in the Championship last season. Or maybe give him a chance to actually sign and then watch and see if he's any good. Crazy idea I know but give it a try.

We are aiming for the Premiership? Last time I checked that was the plan anyway, so the people on this thread who have criticised the proposed transfer are not 'moaning', they are stating a quite obvious point that a striker who is clearly not good enough for the top division, is being signed to aid us in achieving our ultimate goal. This is not a good signing, as a replacement or back up.

The same could have been said about the man in your name, Glenn Murray. Whether he is good enough in the PL is irrelevant as we arent there yet.

Burnley managed it with 'run of the mill' players & a smaller wage bill than us.

yeah but we have lost half our team and a manager who has never played or managed in the championship

It makes life more interesting as a fan. I'm fascinated to see what's going to happen between now and August 31st because I don't think the club are going to close the cash register now for the rest of the year.
Btw, don't show your ignorance by saying you'd never heard of him, when a lot of us have and also seen him play.

Maybe there's a chance that in a side with better players he might improve further as a player, score more goals and fire us to promotion.

As I said in a previous post, Murray, Lambert, and Holt have all scored goals to get sides promoted from this division when they had could have been classed as journey men ex-Rochdale strikers.

I find it incredible how quick fans are to write players off before they have even signed. I prefer to take the opinion of the Barnsley fan on this thread who has actually seen him play rather than those who are basing their opinion on Wikipedia and the fact he plays for an unfashionable team.

Where Barnsley are is irrelevant.

John Byrne
Mike Small
Leon Knight
Bobby Zamora
Peter Ward

All signed from teams worse than us.

Leroy Lita was supposedly from a better team.......

What is wrong with some people.

We signed Leon Knight from Chelsea no ?
Bristol Rovers were above us when we signed Zamora
Le Harve were probably better as well
