Few comments from the Barnsley board:

"Personally if he turned down a move to Charlton because he didn't want to uproot his family why is he suddenly going to shoot off to Brighton which is further than London - unless the wages on offer are much more than Charlton offered perhaps."

"Thing is he clearly doesn't want to play for us
We need to thank him for his efforts and move on."

"Nothing less than £1m. Bare minimum."

"Let's hope so. Replacement for Ulloa? Who's actually not as good as COG."

"Apparently the figure is 'substantial' according to the club."

Seems a bid has been accepted and talks will get underway tomorrow. Think the fee is somewhere more than £500k and less than £1 million.

If correct they're seriously taking the piss!!!

You are never going to get a quality striker in just to be 3rd or 4th choice, which I assume he will be. A good replacement for Hoskins with Championship experience. Shows that the club are bolstering the squad, that's what we want isn't it?

Absolutely. Lots of people moan about signing players without Championship striker. Yet when we're linked with a striker who scored 15 goals in a relegated team last year the reaction is a joke. What do people actually want? Ronaldo and Messi? Or would they not have enough Championship experience?

It would be an absolutely pointless signing.

He may not cost much, but he's simply not good enough for a promotion chasing side (which I hope we still are)

Even as a fourth choice striker, we'd be better off blooding a youngster rather than wasting a portion of our elusive budget on an ageing League One player who isn't good enough.

really ? im pretty sure he is a Hoskins replacement, who hasnt kicked a ball for us in 3 years.

Ulloa, CMS, O'Grady and Goodwin would give us reasonable options upfront. If Ulloa goes though, another top quality striker is a must.

I'm surprised after Poyet's comments post the semi final defeat, the activity in the transfer market last summer and January followed by Oscar walking coupled with the sale of Bridcutt and Barnes without decent replacements being bought and now Ulloa on the way out and people still act surprised that we are not making any big name signings?

have we got anyone thats in touch with whats needed to take us forward running the club? all this bullshit about aiming for the premier league and we're after the likes of o'grady? Now that really would be an ambitious signing.......for Jarvis Brook reserves

Don't get the club at the moment , prem off the pitch league one on the pitch. There is going to b a point when the club needs to up the wage budget . Financially the club has to get in the prem or we will be in trouble .

Was O'Grady the guy that had an impressive game when they beat us at the Amex last season? I am sure it was

sale of Bridcutt and Barnes without decent replacements ?

Can argue if decent or not but Lingards wages probably on par with Barnes and his goals/assists took us to playoffs. Toko, and Ince seen as replacements for Bridcutt.
