Thoughts?? Been part of my day for years.. Radio 2 for me now

A boring dullard gob-shite surrounded by sychophants who seems to think saying words loudly constitutes humour. Will not be missed.

I thought their target audience was 16-24? Anyway its always made me laugh that their target audience is so young yet their DJs are virtually all in their 30s and 40s.

For me the other DJs on radio 1 are far worse than Moyles. Cotton, Mills, Cox and that welsh one whose name I dont know are just offensive to the ears.

Your TOWIE example was poor, there are PLENTY of other TV shows, or things to do whist that trash is on. Most people listen to the radio on their commute to work. .

I hate to break it to you....but you don't have to listen to Radio1 in the morning. There are PLENTY of other radio shows.

Plus, the music he is playing is hardly specialist. It's CHART music. It can be heard all over the place!

What i NEVER understand is the generic response of "Thank f*** for that. He was shit. I never listen to that shit anyway"

Why do you even CARE then? Its like me being overjoyed that someone has left the cast of The Only Way is Essex. It doesn't bother me as I don't watch it!

Anyway, it seems the natural breakpoint for him to leave. He is bordering on 40 and their target audience is 15 to 29.

I listen to it in passing as I really am rushed in the mornings but I wouldn't even do that if it was Fearne bloody Cotton or Vernon Shitting Kay.

I can see it being someone from a different station altogether.

Subsitute Chris Moyles for Andy Murray or Ashley Barnes or even Margaret Thatcher and the same posters say the same thing

Fair point but it permeates society so young people think it is acceptable to be a fat, boring dullard gob-shite whilst surrounding yourself with sychophants. So, whilst I have not worry from a radio listening persepctive my greater holistic viewpoint feels some good has been done today.

Newsround is aimed at kids.....but you don't see any 12 year olds presenting it....

As I said earlier, I used to listen to him but got fed up with him and his team and so felt the need to join in with the people who were expressing their dislike of him. Also, I work in an office with a factory adjoined to it and the guys in the factory have Radio 1 on one all day long, so I get subjected, albeit slightly muffled through the walls, to it without the choice to switch it off.

Target age for Radio 1 is 14-29 apparently, you can certainly tell why some people in this topic dont like him, because they arent the target audience so they probably wont like it.

That said with the target age, a lot of people who are unhappy with Grimshaw (a dull person with a bad sense of humour from Manchester) fit into this age group - ill give it til next Easter until hes gone - just cant see it working out.

Who is this Nick Grimshaw? From looking at images of him on Google he looks like a bit of a cock.

Because some people like the music of Radio 1 but don't like to listen to him. Now he is going, someone more palatable like Grimshaw will mean people can tune into Radio 1 in the morning and listen to the music they like, without having to put up with 2 hours and 47 minutes of Chris talking. Your TOWIE example was poor, there are PLENTY of other TV shows, or things to do whist that trash is on. Most people listen to the radio on their commute to work. Now he is going, people have a better choice for what to listen to, assuming they like his replacement.

No it isn't. Largely because there are "PLENTY" of alternatives to listening to Radio 1, many of which play the same songs that are on the Radio 1 playlist. Other options include switching the radio off, or playing CDs, or even tapes, of music that you DO like.

When driving from Brighton to Surrey there are few stations that maintain a regular signal to listen the whole way.

Back in the day i actually liked Moyles -thought he was good and funny in the mornings, and loved the team side of it. But as with all things, it got a bit samey and surprised he has stuck around as long as he has. Thought he would have gone to capital or another commercial station. I stopped listening to him when Chris Evans became radio 2 breakfast show host, and switched to radio 2 in the mornings. Then found myself listening to Ken Bruce and Jeremy Vine. Still loads better than radio 1 these days. Don't think Nick Grimshaw will be in the job long, from what i have heard he is shit.
