I don't know when it became fashionable to slag off McPhee, but I see a player who offers more than any other striker we have as a target man. As for not doing it at this level, aside from the facts that that applies to nearly all our squad and that he won't likely have to next year, do you recall the 2-2 with West Ham last season? He was excellent there, against defenders as good as Ferdinand and Ward, and looked well up to it.

If anything is going to hold him back, it's his consistency; if he can find a way to reproduce that form regularly, he'll be an excellent player.

Yes I do recall the 2-2 against West Ham, he did very well. League One might be the step forward for Mcphee, hopefully he can score goals down at Swindon.

Think it was Burnley rather than West Ham he had his good game. I see the emergence of Gatting threatening him, but if he plays well at Swindon, then who knows, maybe a 3-month contract like Dean Hammond was given rather than just cutting him adrift.
