Just spotted that Iwelumo has been called up for Scotland.

Always thought he was a good player from the moment he scored that screamer up at Chesterfield. I leapt so high, I thought I was going to land in a different row (I was in the seats).

Shame we weren't able to accommodate him.

I had no idea he was Scotish :)

Quite funny in a way, he's very Afro Carribean but has a very broad Scottish accent. I thought he was good too but I remember that a lot on here didn't rate him. He always stuck me that for such a tall guy he had decent ball control. I think part of the reason he didn't stay was that he wanted to play at a higher level and there's little doubt that money was a big factor.

I think he's scored a 90th minute winner in the last two games for Charlton. Good luck to the fella.

He did the same as Bertin and didn't let the club know what was happening. The first the club knew about it was when he didn't turn up for training on July 1st. It turned out he'd gone to Germany for more money.

Its funny, I thought we didn't really want him. There wasn't much moaning when he went, but he's done really well. Good luck to the fella.

Never rated him, but he has done very well.

Darius Henderson was another player that nobody rated and he has done even better than Iwelomou.

I seem to recall the club wouldn't offer him a relocation package so he went looking elsewhere. Certainly a financial decision, but I wouldn't blame him for that. It's expensive moving to Brighton.

Why would he have turned up for training when he wasn't contracted to the club?

I really wonder at your sources and Albion tinted specs sometimes, Yorkie!!

I just have.

And it clarifies that he turned down the contract as soon as it was offered as he wanted a relocation package. McGhee was then unavailable for 3½ weeks, and we were discussing him being at a new club 17 days after he "didn't turn up".

I know it's not what you want to hear, but that suggests to me that the club shouldn't have been expecting him on 1 July, surely?

The relocation story came out three weeks later after the return of the squad.
