"It's not what you do but the way that you do it, and that's what gets results"

So goes the song, but he seemed rather unconcerned about every result, like he's never expecting to actually WIN or anything outlandish like THAT.

Okay, so they aren't really expected to win, but when the very manager thinks that for every match - there's not going to be any belief running through the team either.
Had to go.

exactly, the fact he didn't go f***ing mental on TV after every result (especially Chelsea), breaking TV cameras, swearing at referees and slagging off pundits, means he didn't give a shit.......thats what makes a good manger, look at Dennis Wise.....

That's bizarre. I think the Chelsea game was his 12th in charge in the league - exactly the same number of games he got to prove himself before Richmond sacked him at Bradford.

Whatever job he gets next, the guy is going to be sh*tting himself until he gets No13 on the board. Shame, great servant to the Albion.

Shame really because Hutchings has potential to do the job but inevitably there isnt time in the modern game to prove yourself if its at the cost of relegation from the premiership.

I think the board had to be concerned about the lack of committment against Chelsea coming on top of their chucking points away against Birmingham - I was at that game and they were pretty abysmal.

It will be interesting to see where Wigan go next for a manager - they are not going to attract a big name so it's hard to see where they will find an improvement

Some managers, like Taylor & Robson are fine fine when things are ticking along. They can't handle the tough times and that's what sperates the men from the boys.

Another failed "Assistant to Manager" appointment. Surely Lesson 1 as a chairman, is "Don't replacement the manager with his assistant". Sure, it works occasionally, but the stats speak for themselves.

Normally i'd agree with you, but there have been a few success stories recently havent there? Weren't Simon Davey, Geraint Williams and Nigel Adkin all assistants? And wasnt Neale Cooper's decent spell at Hartlepool off the back of moving up from assistant?

Then again, i suppose most of these managers inherited stable squads, on the up, rather than struggling teams like Wigan and Bolton.

I'm talking higher profile jobs at bigger clubs where you usually take over from a name manager. A no-mark taking over from a no-mark makes no odds either way.
