[Albion] Chris Hughton - Huddersfield

Oh, OK then.
Erm..didn’t Chris take us on when we looked like nailed on relegation prospects?? .
At that time, he didn't have two consecutive seasons under his belt of keeping a club in the Premier League on a relatively small budget. Therefore his stock has risen, above the level of Huddersfield Town IMHO.

He had as good as two seasons (minus four or five games at the end of the season in 2014) with Norwich.

He's since had over 4 good seasons with us. His stock has surely risen.

Huddersfield are a problem child. Someone like Hughton would steady their ship and probably get them near the top.

Hughton said (in a recent interview) that he thought we were in a false position when he took over. - Hardly nailed on for relegation

What he said when he arrived was ''The feel around the Club didn't have the feel of a Club that was in relegation trouble'' - That's not the same as being in a ''false position'' - However you are right it probably was in a false position because he was able to turn a relegation threatened club into a Promotion chasing Club very quickly. That doesn't mean that he didn't have to try and keep ''clean sheets to survive when he first arrived because the attacking options were virtually non existent at the time.

The OP to this thread is absolutely weird - I don't think CH needs to queue up for jobs like he perhaps may have had to in the past. The jobs will look for him now, if and he feels ready. And he most certainly isn't the type of guy who would chase down a job which currently has a man in place, in that job. That would be so disrespectful.

Can you persuade CH to go to Sheff Wed please as I have a tenner on it! [emoji106]

Many on here will probably disagree with me, but l do actually quite like Huddersfield as a club. When Dean Hoyle was running it there were many similarities with the Abion, he refused to spend beyond his means, and like our own Tony, we is a lifelong fan of the club.

They won't win promotion this season, but l can't see them being involved in a relegation scrap either. Mid table obscurity beckons l think.

A month or two down the line, Huddersfield will find out if he's potentially a German miracle worker like Wagner or Farke or a dud like Felix Magath.

Wait? WHAT?

Felix Magath is an absolute headcase, for sure (refusing the players water at pre-season training / treating injuries with CHEESE...!) but a DUD?

Back to back doubles with Bayern. He won the Bundesliga with WOLFSBURG, ffs.

He's done way more than Wagner or Farke are ever likely to achieve in the game.

If there is anyone on here who knows Chris personally please can you ask him to contact Huddersfield Town chairman Phil Hodgkinson and let him know he would be interested in becoming manager if the opportunity ever presented itself.

Thanks very much and congrats on a fine win today.

P.S take good care of the Aussie Xavi

Aren't you enjoying life in the Championship though? Out of the Premier League circus where survival is everything and back with proper teams, more games and a more level playing field? There's plenty of posters on here who actively dislike the PL and would happily swap with you.

The championship wish only comes out when we aren’t winning ie last season. It all also doesn’t make sense as the championship dream is to get promoted.

And the 'dream' of a return to the Championship is often VERY different from the reality.

Would love to see Huddersfield come back up. Loved my two way trips there over the last couple of seasons and got to see the Harold Wilson statue!

I was referring to Fulham & English football relative, in he most certainly was a dud. Wagner & Farke have both enhanced their reputations with their achievements in English football.

A double with Bayern isn't exactly a miracle achievement. Rather like a Celtic manager, any coach of average ability could achieve that given their resources and players. If you put his Bayern double to one side, his one great achievement in a long coaching career is the championship with Wolfsburg. He also won the Inter Toto Cup with Stuttgart. Meh.

Agree. Met up with a group of their fans in a Christmas market thing just by that statue. Very friendly bunch.
