For lots of football managers it is fortunate they have the aptitude and opportunity to manage in football as it seems that they would be ill-equipped to do anything else.
Hughton strikes me as the sort of person who is simply a gifted and natural leader of people. I know the cliche of a strong leader is the Alpha male shouty, Gordon Ramsey type. And that works in certain situations for a limited time, before everybody gets fvcked off and leaves to work somewhere else. But the very best leaders are calm, rational, composed under pressure, consistent, fair and modest.
I reckon Hughton could have made a successful leader in many different fields. I'm just eternally glad he chose football and wound up at Brighton.
He really is the text-book leader, especially if you want to build something that will last.
