I find this show gets on my wick more and more. I could listen to spotify but I do like a bit of human interaction between songs. Just not Chris Evan"s brand of tosh. And the music - today we've had supercalifragelistic, Dr Doolittle and even Istandbul/Constaninople - oh and the theme from Happy Days.

What do other people listen to?

In fairness he plays them every Friday. That's not normal.

Thursday he plays a classic track right through. Normally anything over 6 minutes.

i think he's great. he's the most upbeat bloke i know, just what britain needs. the music you mentioned is supposed to be light-hearted and put a smile on your face

It's awful, reminds me of some anarchic 80's Saturday show. So out of touch. Timmy Mallet buggering me while whacking me on the head with his mallet and singing teeny weeny polka dot bikini at the top of his voice while emu chomps on my cluster would be a calmer start to the day.

I listen to Today on R4. And insist on no conversation til 8:30

out of touch. it's the most listened morning radio show in this country!!!!!

All those I know in their 50's plus who like R2 love listening to Evans. It's his 'personality'.
To me, he grates and is too noticeable.

Personally I prefer Jeremy Vine, at lunchtimes - quality discussions, and he gets a chance to pop in some rarely played tracks of his own music loves from the late 70's and 80's - Joy Division, The Smiths, some new wave stuff.

I also love listening to BBC5Live Victoria Derbyshire each morning. Great discussions and she's blunt with those talking tripe.
I am in my 50's+. I have liked Chris Evans, but every time I tune in nowadays he's talking to some really boring guest, banging on about some carfest or other or playing that damned Candyman song. He really hit his stride last year, but has started believing his own listener figures and assuming he can do what he likes now. not enough music and boring. Steve Wright is just puerile. Never back announces as he's more important than the music. Pathetic impersonations, singing along and mock estuary accent, and worst of all - Ta! On the other hand, enjoy Vine, Bruce, Mayo and Harris.

I like listening to Chris Evans - but I can understand he's not to everyone's taste. He is an excellent broadcaster that really understands both radio and television. On the other hand I dislike listening to Terry Wogan - but that doesn't make him bad (in fact he must be very good) it's just I don't like his programmes.... So I listen to something else - it's not worth worrying about

No you are not in the minority mate; I think Chris Evans makes excellent listening. Christ, there are enough radio stations to choose from!

But is there? I'd argue not.

Very limited choice on daytime FM or DAB radio in this country. You basically have only three options:

1) Talk radio (Radio 4 & 5, talk sport).

2) Western Classical ( Radio 3, Classic FM).

3) Playlisted pop ( see any number of shite stations with presenters talking shite between the shite music).

6music is probably the nearest we get to offering real choice of music to listen to, but this country desperately needs a radio station that plays a really diverse selection of music throughout the day, everyday, not just specialist shows at unsociable hours.

Breakfast radio for me is always the Today programme on Radio 4 or stick on a cd when I've had enough.

Try Absolute on DAB.

Try Absolute on DAB.

You've got to be joking!, Rock is my least favourite kind of music! I'm happy to see lots of specialist radio stations though, just like internet radio, so you can dip in and out of genres as and when you like.

My ideal music station would be 24/7 programming of the likes of Late Junction, World on 3, Jazz on 3, the now defunct Mixing it, Gilles Peterson and David Rodigan. But all mixed in together.

I like Chris Evans as well especially when the alternative is Jack the Chav on Heart.

Argualbly I would llike trying to nail my ear to a plank as an alternative to Jack the Chav on Heart.

'night all. What will tomorrow (ok today) bring. I am excited about the game.
