Thanks to everyone who went out of their way to come and see me today. Its was appreciated and the messages were all passed on.

Just got back from the hospital now actually. His spirits dropped a little but thats to be expected. I think he's finally realised what exactly has happened and how long he'll be in hospital/physio for. He just needs to realise howlucky he is to be alive.

He's had visitors all day and thats been great for him. The operation yesterday was deemed successful and he was a selection of bolts, bars and plates in his leg. Unfortunatly there isn't much stong bone left to pin it to so he's going under again tomorrow (the wounds still open) and it should be a case of checking everything is working as they hope it is.

Lets hope so.

I'll print this thread off in a few days and deliver it to him.

All the best Chris.

Don't know if it helps but my uncle suffered a very similar injury in a motorbike accident about 12 years ago - he too had his leg pinned for a long time but was also very lucky to be alive and to have both legs.

Over time, he recovered and you wouldn't know he had ever been injured (aside from the scars, obviously). He reckons he could still fire a ball past me and he's heading towards 60 now - what I'm trying to say is that in the long term he was ok and certainly a million times better than we had thought when there was all this metal protruding from his leg at the Conquest Hospital.

Hope you get well soon and that the recovery is as speedy as possible.
