I think football is too hard for you to understand. And almost certainly English.

How would you resolve that by having one quicker centre-back? It makes no sense.

That's right, because no team has ever had one CB who is quicker than the other one. That's sarcasm BTW.

We should sign Usain Bolt. It would never have happened. Gus would have seen the danger and subbed off Adam for Usain and utilised Usains pace as a new strength to the team.

It's really very very simple.

Oh dear.

All of our defense is 'of an age', and they play that way.

There's no reason why in 18 months time our back line won't be:-

Chicksen - Dallison - Dunk - Whoever.

It certainly won't be:-

Ward - Greer - Upson - Bruno.

So why bring in someone now, who doesn't fit either set up?

That says to me we should never sign anyone who could develop to become a first team regular, whilst providing cover.

I'm now of the opinion that even if you did hear the inside info about Gus going which you kept on bleating about you may have completely misunderstood what you were being told in the first place.

Let me try again. I THINK we can do better than Chris Baird. IF he's a short-term fix (Reading signed him for 4 months, so why not us?) THEN fair enough, but I would prefer us to invest in a younger player with more pace. An investment for the future, with potential to play in our first team and replace our ageing (central) defence at the appropriate time. A player with potential resale value too. I see that as a valid alternative but, hey, others are entitled to say Chris Baird is the best option in their OPINION.

Why bring that into it? It is totally and utterly irrelevant. But, hey, you are obviously entitled to think what you want to think.

What he is saying is that Sergio Ramos is better and quicker and younger than Chris Baird.

And that's a fact in my opinion.

I never mentioned Ramos. Now, Chris Baird, what a player. IF only we could get him, THEN we would be guaranteed promotion to the promised land, followed by the Prem title, and the Champions League winners the following season.

Ah but he's quite good in the air so in the Vydra v El-Abd scenario he would have gone up for the corner.
We need to sign someone immensely fast, who can tackle but is poor in the air so they'll always be the last man back at corners. That way we can utilise him best.

Road Runner?

It's obvious now. We're ACTUALLY linked to "quick bird" not Chris Baird.

Of course, because pace would be all I'm looking for.

You look at Upson's appearances and injuries before he came to us and you wouldnt have touched him.
He hasnt missed a game through injury since we signed him, so if we get Baird hopefully we can get the same out of him
