[Albion] Choices for midfield

Agree with the posts above. Moder in the middle with Lallana.

It's a setback for one regular first team player, but it's an opportunity for another player who has been patiently waiting for his chance to stake his claim. I'm really excited to see Moder get some regular minutes in his preferred position. He has looked very good whenever and wherever he has played.

It's also interesting because we are facing the prospect of potentially losing a regular first team player in central midfield to a bigger club at some point, now we will find out what we look like with the player next in line for that position, before any transfer situation materializes, and long in advance of when we would otherwise have had to find out.

I'm excited, I have been really impressed by Moder, let's see what he can do with regular game time in his preferred position.

Realistically it'll be the team from Arsenal (with Welbeck and one of Lallana and Gross swapping in and out) for the foreseeable, won't it?

Has to be Moder, he's got it all, such a well rounded player.

Big lad so a physical presence but also has the skills to do something with it when he has the ball.

Excited to see what he can do with a bunch of starts in a row,

He might have all these attributes but I’ve yet to see him dominate or play more than a bit part, probably to do with your final point.

Choices for midfield.

Depends on who we’re playing and what sort of tactics GP decides on I expect.

The player, whoever he is, has been bailed until 3rd. November, so will be available to play. Innocent until proved guilty, no?

Edit: Wasn't aware he'd been named in The S*n and by Bozza when I posted. It depends now whether the club will play him while he is on bail. If not, then it'll be a job mostly for Moder, I guess. Recall Caicedo in January if it turns out to be serious?

Not seeing the love for Moder.
He's played almost every position but the one we're not discussing, and every time he's played he's always driven forward.

The guy is class but I don't think he's the 'stopper' others think he is.

Depends on condition of bail, but I reckon the club will suspend him or at least keep him away from first team activity until bail date

This.

Why are people automatically presuming he won't be available for selection? for the time being at least.

Providing his head is in the right place of course.

Was Biss the stopper he has become when he first joined ?.... I had him down as very much an attacking midfielder for the first 18 months of his time here.

I think Moder could do the same if required. But like you I like seeing Moder forward more, things seem to happen around him which i like.

This may be a stupid question, and apologies if it is, but why is no one naming the arrested and subsequently bailed player? There's a sticky thread by Bozza doing just that.

I know we can't discuss the case but surely it's o.k to say his name?

I agree, you say his name first and see what happens and report back.

The Everton player is ‘only’ on bail, yet suspended by his club pending investigation. This is no different

Yep.

I thought he started slow against Arsenal then almost as if he thought 'hang on I'm better than them', turned it on for 45 minutes then came off.

There were at least 2 sumptuous passes that took out half the Arsenal team, but I don't remember much in the way of Biss' work.

It will be interesting to see how the club decides to do. I struggle to see him playing against Norwich anyway. Not because of being disciplined or some type of moral "what-ifs" but because that kind of turbulence will affect players and it being a game away from home doesnt help.

Most likely he wont play until everything is resolved, unfortunately.

Totally get your point! Does seem daft, moreso as "the name" is in the public domain and is in the mainstream press. I'm not convinced that there would be a legal issue for the site, particularly as the owner has already published "the name".

But ultimately it is Bozza's site and he can make up whatever rules he wants and we have to respect and abide by them so I'm not saying it!!

Agreed. But the same pair were absolutely shocking against palace!

Difference is that it was a trio rather than a pair against Arsenal (and in the second half against Palace). And I'd sort of expect it to remain that way for most games where YB isnt playing.

Steven Alzate did nothing to get himself removed from the team and I hope to see him restored.

Potter had no updates on Danny Welbeck (hamstring) and Steven Alzate (ankle), both of whom have seen specialists, when asked by The Argus.

However he had previously indicated Alzate could face a significant absence after his injury in the 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace.

Shame. Would be a big opportunity for him but Moder can easily step up.
