Vankleek Hill, actually....
I'm just chillin' to the new Guns 'N' Roses album Chinese Democracy which after 15 years since the last album Spaghetti Incident, was released today in stores across the world.

Is it better than Appetite for Destruction, excellent, not bad, or does it just plain suck?

What do the NSC masses think?

Never heard it, never likely to. But after 15 years, whatever half-bright concept was originally intended has long since been lost in the wash. I mean, do you think the same way you thought fifteen years ago? And with someone as all-round flakey as Axl Rose, he probably doesn't even remember having anything to do with the original project. It's nailed-on to suck BIGTIME.

Even though it says G'n'R on the label, it isn't G'n'R on the CD. It's an Axl Rose solo album with guest musicians, but using the G'n'R name for marketing. That's how I see it and am approaching the album with that thought in mind.

Personally, Appetite for Destruction was the best of the "original" G'n'R albums, and it won't be beaten.

If this is a true democracy, as someone who has never been a fan of GNR or that type of music, I reserve my right to spoil my ballot paper.

Amazing.
Viewing it as a solo album and it is really good.

Listened to it on myspace (you can listen to the whole album free on their myspce)

I'm no heavy metal fan so perhaps I'm not doing it justice but I've just listened to the whole album and there's track after track on there that just washed over me without leaving any identifiable trace.

His voice seems to have held up okay but the lyrics seem weak and the song just has a "samey" feel to it that could have been knocked out by half a dozen emo bands in the last 5 years.

Stand out track for me is "Sorry" with some great blues guitar solos. He's certainly no Roger Waters and this album probably won't get another listen from me.

Having listened a couple of more times this morning, I agree as a solo album it is very good. G'n'R it aint though.

I think that it's one of those albums that needs listening to a few more times before you start to appreciate it.

And we all know what Axl Rose is an anagram of:

Having been "lucky" enough to see them a few time in their prime, I couldn't bring myself to listen to anything by "them" without the man from Stoke.

Saw them a few times, and saw Axl Rose as GnR at Wembley about 18 months ago on a Sunday. He was supposed to come on at 8:30 but came on at 23.20. How were most suppossed to get home. He didn;t even finish the gig.

It's not bad at all.

Probably not good enough to justify all the hype (which, realistically, it was NEVER going to be anyway), but still a hell of a lot better than I was half-expecting it to be and a lot better than 95% of the stuff that's been released in 2008.

If it had been the 'real' GNR, it could have been stunning, but as it is I reckon a more than decent 3.5/5.
