One positive is that I’ve put the serial bedwetters on ignore, so future match threads won’t be so damp.
I decided to read through our ‘friends up the road’ matchday thread and found plenty of consolation in their ‘heartbreak and criticisms’ of their players/manger/luck etc. made me feel tons better with the realisation that things could be so much worse especially when considering how we destroyed their conquerors with consummate ease only a few weeks ago, with a bit of luck they could easily finish this weekend in the bottom three! Revelling in their misery is a guilty pleasure we all should relish while we can, sadly we know how this ends !
Ps hate Chelski.

Just checked the stats. I was listening and know we were lucky to get away without a cricket score, but the stats read that it was close!

Shots

Chelsea 15 Brighton & Hove Albion 15

Shots on target
Chelsea 7 Brighton & Hove Albion 5

Shots off target

Chelsea 5 Brighton & Hove Albion 5

That's all well and good.
But the XG we gave up for those 15 shots was 3.19 against 1.08

That really isn't a close run thing.

Never expected anything from the game, also won't moan about Webster like some of the idiots (admittedly younger "fans") but have to say it was a bit suicidal playing the high line away at Chelsea with no pace at the back. Not an unexpected result, we move on and hopefully learn from the experience.

Report in the observer mentioned Chelsea’s starting 11 cost £520M. Anyone know what our starting 11 cost?

I hadn't noticed the free-kick thing - but it's well more than a whole stripe in front of where the foul was! One of our players did seem to wave. but was ignored.

I haven't seen anything like that, as glaring as that, for 20 years. PL refs used to miss players tossing the ball forward 10 yards to make a much better angle and shorter distance for a freekick from out wide.

I totally missed that, at the time, but that's astonishingly shoddy from the officials.

Palmer’s free kick and his finish for the 4th were superb.
Palmer’s free-kick was amazing. If he’d been made to take it from where the offence happened, he could never have scored. Looking at the stripes on the pitch, Estupinan’s pull back happened entering the 3rd one outside the area. Not that far beyond the centre circle. The free-kick was more than a full stripe further forward.

Edit: just seen the post above. Shoddy refereeing (no surprise from an official probably in the bottom 3 for competence). Players should have made more of it too.

Had family engagements yesterday s thankfully missed the game. Horrible watching us lose to that entity. We've lost 4 in a row now.

What on earth did they do all week in preparation for the game? Absolutely mental that we are defending in their half with the personnel we have. Astonishing. Fab came out and said he wouldn't change the high line after the game. The thing is, all the pressing in the world in their half wouldn't stop any of their players from just hoofing it. Why take such an insane risk? Drop 10 yards. Don't get everyone saying 'I hope we learn from this' when it was glaringly obvious what was going to happen this week. I really hoped Fab would be more proactive and not ideological.

Thank goodness Palace lost (while on their way to Europe). Still think we have a chance of being top 8 and getting to a cup final but yesterday could have been absolutely anything.

You're not seriously writing off Wieffer after around 180 mins in total? I mean, tell me you're not doing that?
There is a lot i like about wieffer , what i didnt like was the Palmer freekick . He was marking tussling with Cunterella then walked away leaving Cunterella unmarked for Palmer to aim at . Seemed very naive to say the least

I've had a self imposed 36 hours off of here.
I called the free kick out on Saturday evening, I don't understand why more isn't being said about it by the club or in the media? It is appalling refereeing.
Also the penalty, I've watched this a few times now and I just don't see a foul. An unavoidable collision is not a foul.
Anyway I'm in danger of going all Arsenal on this so I'm done with this match now, moving on.

I haven’t a clue on why TB accepted that Napoli fee. Perhaps NSC’s experts will explain.

After going a season with no cover in central midfield, this summer we had a surplus.
Ayari, Hinsh, Baleba, O'Riley, Wieffer available this season, WBG's time was up.

Someone had to go and the most likely candidate (Moder) deal didn't get done.

Tony doesn't need to make a ton of cash on every sale, just wants to make sure his valuation is met.
If Gilmour had goals and assists in him, he'd be worth more. But he hasn't (for us).

Edit: Not to mention, of course, That Gilmour understood all of the above, and put his hand up as being happy to go.

Bart - 20m
Dunk - 0
Webster - 20m
Hinsh - 0
Estupinan - 15m
Baleba - 15m??
Ferdi - 25m
Wiefer - 25m
Mitoma - 5m??
Welbeck - 0
Rutter - 40m

165m, so not exactly bargain-basement stuff. Although if we'd had our best defender and attacker available, that'd have reduced the total by about 30m.

Yeah Exactly as I saw it, but I felt the same about last week's penalty, and was told it was "Stonewall" and I was "sounding like an Arsenal fan".
I haven't seen the challenge on Mitoma or Ayari back, but I thought the Mitoma one was more of a pen than Sancho's ( but I would).

Have found it very funny that Arsenal fans are still going on about a Leicester player kicking the ball away, unpunished, in a game they escaped a 2nd yellow for a blatant foul and a goal being given following a foul by them.

We are both a long way away from the average Arsenal fan.
