Interesting to see what it means for the summer and beyond.

How dare you, sir. Suggesting this government does things to help their own. In other news...

The government that has taken forever to apply sanctions to russian oligarchs, having finally applied them to a particular one, is allowing an exception to the the sanctions that benefits one of their own. I wonder if the government will be able to drive the price down for him...

This seems sensible.

Chelsea FC insist its "business as usual" as the squad prepare to leave their interim training ground for tonight's game at Norwich.

Should not be a problem to still sell the club. Just has to be proved not a penny goes to Abramovich

Which given the government are involved, will fail.

Roman said proceeds will go to 'victims of the war' though (of course not clear if Ukranian victims, Russian victims, or both) - so just nominate charities and ensure all the proceeds go to them

Does Abramovich have any say in it? He was claiming that he would sell the club and donate the profits to Ukraine, but now he has been sanctioned by the UK I can imagine his attitude has changed. Could he in theory, just let the club rot, not putting any money in and just walking away. What are his legal rights if the government sell it and he doesn't get a penny for it?

Nope "The foundation will be for the benefit of all victims of the war in Ukraine."

That could well be interpreted as money going back to Russia / Putin.

I guess they can't have their sell-on percent for Lamptey now.

The only chance he has of getting a penny back (at some future date) is by working with the Government to sell his assets as quickly as possible.

He's also sitting on £200M of property in London.
