It's still a hell of a risk though. The biggest one being they've bought 25 odd players who are all kids. The natural odds say that 3 or 4 of those are going to turn out to be not as good / promising as hoped, or have personal problems / down tools / become disenfranchised when not playing. Surely, in order to have a balanced squad, you need one of these for every 3 or 4 wonderkids:Fascinated to see how this works out for them in the long term……feels like a shit or bust strategy. They’re also ending up with another bloated squad for this season and all the issues that might cause too.
I get the frustration from many about their spending, but have to temper that with the fact that to 99%+ of other football clubs we are ‘super rich’ and only able to compete at our current level because some chap has put c£500m of his own money into the club.
