I'm sure a big ego is essential to be in the positions they are in, and believing they can fix Chelsea where others have failed might be tempting enough (alongside the financial rewards even if they fail).

If RDZ fails to a) overcome the current drop in form between now and the end of the season, b) demonstrate that he has the tactical nous to overcome the dreaded "low block" and c) demonstrate that he is not a serial sulker when things don't go his way - then his currency as the new messiah at Chelsea, Barcelona, Manchester United or anywhere else, will be considerably diminished - IMHO.

I genuinely think a chunk of our fans would prefer the club to be a small time football league side than the one we've become.

I’m sick of it, I don’t think the level of uncertainty is good for the players, I don’t think it will help us attract our top targets and personally I’m bored of it.

Utter nonsense that any of us would rather be small time but I for one am sick of a situation where a manager who hasn’t done two seasons with us is perpetually linked with moves away and the instability this must bring.

What’s the length of his current contract? Even if he signs a new contract it’ll have a release clause and if that’s met by a big club then he’ll probably go. The same will be true of any replacement.

Unfortunately all the time the press see us little overachieving Brighton they will always link our managers with moves away. Therefore to avoid constant speculation we either have to become established at a higher level or sink back down to a lower half of the league team.

Unless we sink back down the more we establish ourselves the more there will be press speculation about our players and staff. It’s a by product of being successful and there is nothing that RDZ, the players or anyone else can do to stop it. Even if RDZ said he was fully committed and signed a new contract the press would still speculate as that is their job.

Until we start winning major trophies at an almost yearly rate nothing will change, and even then it’s probably going to take 10 years plus of us achieving that before the narrative changed.

The only thing to do is ignore it. Just like press speculation of what player will be joining us etc, we should only worry about it when it’s announced someone has left and look forward to seeing who TB gets in next. Other wise it’s business as usual and everything else is just noise.

It's not really his fault is it? And it is a side effect of being good anyway. If you don't want speculation that the sharks are circling then ultimately, we have to do a lot worse than we currently are.

So if it is a choice between dealing with a boring media that is obsessed with a small group of elite clubs or being unsuccessful enough to not be noticed anymore, I know which one I'm choosing. If you're in any doubt I'm very excited to get on my flight to Rome tomorrow morning.

Ofc I agree with both and someone will eventually take the Chelsea job (and one of their next 4-5 managers will probably succeed to met expectations as well) but in their place I would take the Liverpool, Bayern and even United job before I would consider Chelsea.

Not saying that replacing a legendary and beloved manager at Liverpool would be easy. Bayern is in their turmoil as well but will probably continue to win domestic trophies after this season. And United is, well, United. Still looking for their identity a decade after SAF retired.

But working under a clueless owner who is throwing billions away buying overrated players without any plan just wouldn't be an attractive destination for me if I'd be a manager looking for a job. Especially if I'd already be employed at the club that works totally different.

Like De Zerbi here or Amorim who has patiently build his career and longterm project at Sporting to decide and go to Chelsea where odds of any manager these days to survive more than 12-18 months are very low just doesn't strike me as a smart career move. Money talks but it's not the most important factor for all coaches imo.
