I have been referring to this stat for a few years now, i f***ing hate Chelsea more than any club other than the obvious filth. The pair on the train sound like a right pair of factory setting Sky bubble wrapped wankers. f*** 'Em

Unless they are foreign (no signs of it in your post) then that level of ignorance torwards both a club in the area getting lots of media attention and towards their OWN club's not exactly distant history is totally inexcusable. all this snobbery against other fans , if they want to support another team outside of sussex let them, it is doing you no harm . it would be so boring if every one supported the regional team . the amount of times i have read that fans are "plastic" because they support Chelsea , man u , Liverpool, etc whilst living sussex some do have season tickets and travel to games every week . i can not understand this supereior (sp) attitude that brighton fans are more dedicated than other fans . perhaps some of these "dyed in the wool albion fans" doth protest too much ?? anyway, you get my drift, in fact lets compare withdean gates when albion were doing rubbish , against season tickets sold/gates at falmer next season.

they arent considered "plastics" because they support big, non-sussex clubs, but because they know f*** all about the club they supposedly support. no one would consider those exiles that trek off to Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester, etc from sussex every week, or follow the club closly from a family or childhood alligence to be a plastic.

Just a thought, but how many people on here know EVERYTHING about the history of every sports team for which you own a top, and MUST you prior to buying that top?

I own a Cleveland Browns jersey, but please don't fire 10 questions at me about their history, or I'll end up getting labelled in various derogatory terms myself. I also have an Ebbsfleet shirt, bought for me by my son who supports them. My knowledge of them goes back no further than about the time of their name change and the MYFC introduction, but what's wrong with that?

New fans, and indeed fans who do NOT qualify for anorak-like status. Get used to it, because that will be us next season, and personally I really don't understand people's problem with it.

It's Brighton and only Brighton for me .No apologies.It's the only league club I have a passion for because they chose me to support them,and it is my priviledge to recipricate.
I don't watch MOTD anymore,although I do watch the Football League Show,even into L2 .I don't watch Prem games or European games ,Just don't care about them.Passionate about England of course.
There are locals at work who support prem teams, but their knowlege only seems to extend to games that have been televised. Always a lot of fun asking them who they are playing next if it's not live on the Sky.They usually um and ar for a bit and then quickly check the internet.

I may be lucky but most of the people that support other clubs i have spoken to do know quite a lot about Brighton even when i was working abroad they would see the stripes and remark , Usually about fat boy slim etc , or even going back to the Goldstone days asking me about the loss of the ground but i think it shows that Brighton has moved up the awareness table in the last 15 years or so .
Had a very good chat to a Man city supporter last year in Amsterdam who really knew a lot about the seagulls and even said we should go up this year with Gus in charge. I do think that some fans support a team and do not know the ins and outs of the entire history , that is their choice .

The thing that gets me is that some people on here think that supporting a non premier league side makes them more of a real supporter and that they have not sold out to the commercialism of the premier league. we may be lucky enough to see Brighton playing in the highest regions of English football what will happen then ? will the same die hard Brighton fans go and supprt another lower league club ? it will be interesting to see
