I think we are getting a bit too carried about transfers fees here. With Mitoma, think of him minus that goal on Saturday. He's been decent for us this season, but not £100m decent, not at 28. His next transfer has much less sell on value.

I think the main thing Albion can do is to try and get him to sign a new deal. Other than that, of the top suitors, I'm not sure which club would be in for him. And I'm not sure where he would be a first team regular.

I expect him to go this summer, witha fond farewell.

Anyone but those twats though. Ideally abroad, but if not Liverpool.

He doesn't seem a limelight or money merchant I have to say. I wonder whether, if we have a good end to the season, squeak into Europe, he might just stay. Yer never know.

There is absolutely no evidence to suggest they are after MItoma. And a random quote from a Spanish newspaper doth butter no parsnips.

A decade ago I started a rumour about a player Albion were interested in to test things out on social media. Within four days it hit main outlets and was only laid to rest when Naylor said no. It's that easy.
Who was the player?

Weren't the sand-botherers promising to go up to £95m or something until Mitoma himself told them not to bother because he wasn't interested? I'm sure I read that somewhere (taken with a big pinch of salt, obvs).

A player is only really worth what the buying club is willing to pay. Caicedo isn't worth £115m, for instance. IMO, like.

I think one of the reasons he's been better for us the last few weeks is having Minteh on the other side. You cannot afford to double/triple up on Mitoma this year whilst you have such a pacey threat on the other side who can produce.

I'm not sure who in England would be paying the sort of money we would want for Mitoma

Man Utd? No chance.
Man City? They appear to be going younger and will likely be in League 2
Chelsea? Their spending has no logic, so not totally implausible. Hope we put on a special Chelsea fee if it happens. They will have to find some other building somewhere to sell to themselves
Spurs? Under pressure to buy. Son, not getting younger. Again, plausible, but they would have to front big money for player with no resale
Arsenal? Left wing surely not a priority
Saudi? Doubt it, they looked well stocked out wide
Liverpool? Again, they have no current shortage of options on the left. I'd guess they have other priorities
Vanilla? I'd like to see a special tariff for them as well. An outside bet at best

The £95m thing died away. I'm pretty sure there was no actual evidence it was the case.

I don't recall his name. But I seem to remember he was a fringe player at Barcelona who had no real way into the first team. I looked at their squads, including the 'Barcelona B' and he seemed like one that had promise but was unlikely to make it to the highest level. It all seemed plausible as we were an aspiring Championship side. Naylor eventually said that his contact in Spain, whoever they are, said no.

Haha. So you put it out on Twitter or here?

I had a Twitter account at the time and there were a load of shares. I think it ended up in some of the, oft quoted, but lazy fourth estate alms houses. Folk just assumed if it was written, it was happening. It shows how easy, and how silly, the whole thing is. Especially as I seem to recall quoting a Spanish Newspaper that had made absolutely no mention of it whatsoever.

I think both of these two are valid options - Liverpool may have plenty to spend if Salah is off their wage bill. And Villa have plenty of dosh and would fancy a wide player serving Watkins

I can't see any other PL team going for him - wingers are certainly not Chelsea or Arsenal's priority. Levy wouldn't spend that sort of money for a 28-year-old and Citeh have just spent a shedload.
