Oh I say! Take it to an auctioneers to get it valued then. A lot of 'em will prob's do it for free if you utter the immortal words: "I'm interested in putting this painting up for auction with YOU etc etc". It'll work like a charm.

ps Even if it is only a good repro', It'll be worth a tidy sum I'd imagine. Good luck with it hon & let us know how you get on.

If it's on a canvas - it could be an origional. If not, forget it.

Not necessarily - many of the old guys painted on wood panels when canvas wasn't avialable, but by and large canvas is probably a good sign.

Take it to Bonhams in Hove-Palmeira Square I think they are in the phonebook), say you are thinking of selling and what's it worth, if it's real they will get excited at the thought of the commission.

Is the person wearing football kit? If so it could be George Graham - not sure he's very honorable though.
