Surely not... a striker who knows where the back of the net is... not since Leo...

Perhaps there are half a dozen strikers that can make the case for being the best in the Championship; Austin is one of them. Put it this way, with Austin for 46 games this season, we'd finish top in my opinion. We are hopefully looking at getting in a player of this class and perhaps his contract gives a chance but I'd imagine we are still trying to find value in South America. I'm sure Boro & Derby would offer more salary and transfer fee in the Championship but there must be plenty of Premier League clubs eyeing him up & able to offer him quadruple what we could manage. Reuniting the Austin-Zamora partnership is little more than a dream.

Hahahahahaha seven pages! Jesus. Aside from the fact that that QPR will want a fee even tho he is winding down his contract. He will want at least 60k a week. Minimum. Hahahahaha.

To echo others. This is a made up twitter account with a made up story by a user seeking attention, fun, or more probably a desire to generate threads like this and one of the poorest of many we'll have to put up with for the next 3 weeks..
Anyone on here (or from our friends and rivals seeking to wind us up) could set one up and link us to Rhodes, Rooney and Ross McCormack. They almost inevitably will.
Lets treat em with the respect and attention they deserve.

Yep, and most significantly, there'll be several Premier League teams prepared to offer him that sort of wage.

It's probably a Palace fan

I'd say so:

The story I've heard from two separate unconnected sources is that due to his knee condition he can't actually pass a proper medical, when he left Burnley for QPR something was 'overlooked' during the transfer process, and given some of the people involved in the deal I find that more plausible than this twitter account.

You might say that any interest in him was........Pointless

Thats all publc knowledge isn't it?

He was moving from Burnley to Spurs, but failed that medical because of the unhealed shoulder injury he was carrying. That's why QPR were able to sign him so cheap (£4m) in the first place. Then there is the ongoing / reoccurring knee injury.

That being the case no Premier club will go after him for the decent money which his ability would command. I still reckon Bournemouth, him going home.so to speak.

He has 6 months left on his deal.... I think he will run it down.

That way a team is far more likely to take a punt on him if there is no fee involved, even with a dodgy knee

Doesn't every club has a record of signing players who develop injury problems. That was a lot of the reason we nabbed Vicente in the first place. Not sure we're any worse.
Kayal has been an ever present for the last 12 months yet has had a track record of injuries pre-Albion.

PS: This transfer/Austin twitter account is obviously a load of guff.

I know, it was tongue in cheek, even if it didn't come across like that and yes I agree, we have no chance of signing CA

All sounds a bit Justin Fashanu to me

I know the story is probably rubbish but there is a little part of me that is hoping it's true , if we signed him I think we would get automatic promotion.

I have more chance of taking a shit in the queens handbag than Charlie Austin signing for us. Anyone who thinks there is a even a slight chance of it happening is a moron.

I think it is, wasn't there also the spat between him and West Ham?
