i'm going to see Adam Johnson's home debut for City tonight, was hoping to see Cahill for Bolton too but he's injured for the rest of the season with a blood clot, of all things.

According to the Beeb Johnson is injured....probably isn't though, just normal BBC bull shit.

Fair enough, opinions and all that... but mine is that Cashley is nowhere near the world's best left back. See his performance in the Ukraine game for pretty damning proof of that.

It's also worth noting that every time under Fabio we've come up against a decent team (the Germany game you mentioned being the exception), we've failed to win. France, Spain, Holland and Brazil. It would be foolish and naive to suggest there's not still a lot of work to be done in finding the right team and formation or that we're ready to complete with the Spains and Brazils just yet.

France - Fabio's 2nd game in charge
Spain - best team in the world
Holland - Outplayed them and on most other days would've won comfortably. Gave them two goals, they didn't get any themselves.
Brazil - 2nd best team in the world
Are Croatia not "decent"? We spanked them twice.

I think the team and formation are there for us to be 3rd best team in the world. I'm fine with that, we simply DO NOT have the players to be better than Spain or Brazil, regardless of team/formation.

Ashley Cole has been excellent pretty much all season for Chelsea. The Ukraine game is definitely the exception rather than the rule.

Very much agree. He's a good player, but certainly not the best.

A player that has somehow failed to make the squad many a times in the last few years is Carrick.

Carrick and Fletcher are in my opinion, apart from Rooney, the reason United are doing so well again this season.

I'd have Carrick ahead of Barry on current form.

As for Ashley Cole, he probably is the best in the world. Oh he played bad against Ukraine did he? Bloody hell every player has a bit of a shocker from time to time.

Player for player - Spain are a class above every other nation.

Other than that, I don't see Brazils team being any better than ours, if anything ours is stronger.

Gilberto Silva still makes the starting line up, so do players like Elano. Their star player (a side from Kaka) is Fabiano, who is not as good as Rooney.

Having said that the world cup is a lottery.

I think our team is slightly better than Brazils, they have other quality players besides Fabiano and Kaka.

Etherington?

The man speaks sense. He's been on fire in a dodgy side.

Personally, I would say that Charles N'Zogbia is worthy of a look, ONLY if he drops his surname. Just be Charles. :clap2:
Naturally left footed, and though a bit tempremental, he is a good player.

I would still prefer Downing, who is, you know, ENGLISH, but Charles is a good player.

N'Zogbia is a quality player, easily Wigans best but I definately don't want to see him in an ENGLAND squad. The cricket team pains me enough seeing pietersen and trott play. Milner deserves to start, left, right or centre. Easily been the best English midfielder this season and has looked the part in each game he has played for England. Adam Johnson has a real shout of making the squad, he is a classy, genuine winger and I think he will prove to be a great signing for City. Twice as good as Downing.
