What 3 decisions would you make to turn us into promotion contenders?

If you could make three decisions (big or small) with the sole of objective of turning us into promotion contenders, what would they be? You may assume you have a net figure of up to 500,000 to spend.

For me:

1. Sign an experienced, dominant centre-half and make him skipper

2. Offload one of our strikers and fork out for a genuine goal scorer

3. If those two things fail, change the manager

Poll to follow.

Sign a proper box to box midfielder, not two of three from the same style/type of player.

Dicker, Crofts and to a much lesser extent Navarro are all variations on a theme. We are crying out for some creativity and guile in that area of the pitch.

Every team we play knows how weak we are there, ups their harrassing tactics and we are forced to play long or extremely wide with no support breaking forward from midfield.

When we signed Crofts I really thought that was what we HAD signed, but it looks to not be the case.

Shoot me down if you want but I dont think we have replaced Hammond!

Lets not forget that all the time people were slagging him off he was playing alongside Chippie who was past his best and Deano carried him for most of the game.

We need a player like him, a goal scoring midfielder who can also tackle and is dedicated to the cause!

We need another Chippy on loan/ view to sign permanantly. A fit eager Murray and if that fails Father Christmas can bring us another manager to attempt the task.

we need more than one option, we need a creative attacking midfielder (i appreciate they are like gold dust at this level but if we seriously want to get above this level then thats what you need) and a strong solid captain at the back, aswell as a new manager with hi own backroom staff

Only one of them which is change the backroom staff, the other one I would do is play Smith not Kuipers.

Slade had the option to change this but chose not to as he was obviously satisfied with the prospects of DW and BB

IMHO i think Kuipers needs to be dropped and Smith given a run, we need a Butters farther figure at CH 30-35 with 300+apps under his belt at this level or above.I actually think the midfield is ok and gunna develop nicely. We need a goalscorer up front as well(yes i know Forster has been in the form of his life, but that form quite simply cannot continue, coupled with his age.And Murray wants out, so is a luxury we can do without, thinking of team morale).....The only man that i feel could deliver all this and move us forward(Blackwell, Rodger, Beasant, Sidwell, Ingermarrson)....is Mr Steve Coppell......Tony Bloom make the call and turn this season around now please.

The first thing we need to do is bring in a decent number 2 to work alongside Slade and bring some new coaching ideas to the squad, And secondly we need a decent spine in the team. A keeper who is going to dominate the area, An experienced centre half to organise our defence, A midfielder who can take control of the game and organise our midfield and a targetman like we had with Owusu who's going to battle up front to win things and score a few goals. Once we get a decent spine in the team we've got more than enough good players to mould around them into a decent side.

Totally agree. We have NEVER replaced him.

I'm aware of this and it does make me seriously question him as a football manager

Has Steve Coppell actually come out and said he'll re-join us?

I mean, he has been on Premiership wages.

I dont think wages is as much as an issue with Coppell as it would be some managers, he doesnt strike me as a money grabber....There was a very slight referance to it happening this morning on talk sport, but it was very soon brushed over and subject changed, which actually made me think there could be something in it.
