Blimey, I'd totally written off Sheff Utd.

Really hope Forest get through, its SUCH a great city for an awayday. That said, I do like Sheffield for a trip as well, the city centre is great.

Anyone but bloody 'uddersfield though - we don't need TWO sad dull grim 19th-century northern griefholes in the PL if Burnley manage to stay up. Nobody wants to see that.

Bye bye Griefholes! :lolol:

They have a lot of work to do, the team is mainly built around Premier League rejects/relegatees (Grabban, Colback, Lowe, Cook etc.) and loan players. They're going to have to sign a shit load of players (which they also will) and it will be a bit of gamble if the new guys are good enough, kind of in a Watford fashion where sometimes they just went down immediately while sometimes they surprised everyone.

Currently I think they probably got promoted a year too early. Too much to do in just one summer - they only have a dozen or so pretty good players. As for Cooper I predict him to be sacked before November. Marinakis is quick to pull the trigger if things don't go well. 12 years in Olympiakos, 11 managers (not including caretakers), 5 years in Nottingham and 6 managers.

Interesting turn of phrase :)

Really pleased for Forest. I’m the right kind of age to remember them as a big club and love the city. They look way, way off having anything like a competitive squad though. Cooper will have his work cut out. A good test for the future Brighton manager.

looking forward to hearing the Forest fans at Leeds singing the "Champions of Europe, You'll never sing that" chant

Genuinely pleased that Forest were promoted, though I will always believe the playoffs are very unfair on the third placed team. I know it keeps the season "live" for more clubs for longer and undoubtedly makes for some cracking matches late on in the season . It seems stacked against third place a lot of the time, as they are often fighting for second place, while teams below can often rest players knowing they have a play off spot, and cant get second

There should be an advantage given to 3rd placed teams. That would sort the problem you describe.

I think Bloom did suggest something like 3rd goes straight to the final. while 6 play 5, winner plays 4, winner plays 3, that way the higher u finish the less games u play. It still leaves the possibility that 3rd could finish miles ahead of the eventual promoted team, but if they have play offs, whatever system in place will allow that . It just seems expressly designed to disadvantage team 3 at the moment.

I think there should be one legged semi-finals - 3rd placed team at home to 6th placed, and 4th at home to 5th.

That would be a fair system. To win play off 3rd has to win 1 game 4th 2 games and 5th and 6th 3 games. Have to bring in an advantage for league placings

As much as I can see that as a decent idea, the TV companies would never allow it! Less games, less revenue!

. Just feel should be some advantage to say Wrexham who finished 11 points ahead of Grimsby. However everything we do is better than farce i Belgium

Often I'd agree with you, but correct me if I'm wrong but 3rd place this year was very fluid all season. Pretty sure Hudders' only snatched it on last day as Forest drew with Hull?

Does that matter? At the end of the season, after everyone had played everone twice, Huddersfield had earned the 3rd spot. We don't adjust the table at the end of the season based on how long teams were in certain spots.

While that’s true, Forest’s approach (and everyone else’s) to the last couple of games would have been different if everyone knew third place was also automatically promoted

How about top three promoted. They have earned the right to be promoted. May as well draw straws for promotion at the beginning of the season and forget about the results of the seasons matches.
