This season:
Away league we are 5th, P21 W8 D7 L6 PTS31
Home league we are 13th, P20 W8 D6 L6 PTS30

Away from home we have the best defence of anyone in the league. At home we have the 6th best.

Attacking wise we are 15th best away from home, 18th at home.

So, after a shocking final 5 games in our first season, we followed that up with 13 points from a possible 15 in our 2nd season.

Will the Leicester victory last night be a catalyst like our 3-0 win against Palace was last season? The next 5 suddenly look quite appetising for us.

Looking at those fixtures, and their recent form, I reckon that BLACKBURN are not out of it.

Thanks for posting this, great summary. Looking at the run in, Blackburn look a good bet to get at least 12 points, and I can see Bournemouth getting 10+. Reading have a tough old run in.

So we need 11 or 12 from 15 I'd say. Possible but it's going to be tough.

Looking at that I reckon 72points will get us 6th.

11 points from 5 games. So 3wins and 2draws or 4wins.

I'm probably full of ****, but Ive gotta feeling reading will drop afew too many points.

We need to beat Charlton, and then go into a very tricky away match at Huddersfield.

I can't look further ahead than that.

Indeed not, although they ARE relying on an awful lot of other contenders to drop points. For example, they need to score three more points than we do, over just five games, and we have comparable run-ins.

That last minute equaliser at Blackburn last week is looking like a HUGE point now.

Also, I should point out that the OP has ignored WIGAN, and they're by no means sure of a play-off spot - five to play, with three of them against Reading, Burnley and Blackburn! And their other two opponents, Blackpool and Birmingham won't exactly be on the beach either.

Exactly - after the euphoria of last night I'm safely back to worrying about losing to Charlton on Saturday, which could easily happen - just because we're Brighton and that's just what we do. In theory our run in is just about perfect, in actuality we probably need to be playing teams higher up the table. Pessimism is always the best policy as a Brighton fan and therefore I predict we will finish 8th.

I've just done that and got Wigan 5th and Bournemouth 6th...

I've got Bournemouth picking up wins at home against Forest and Wednesday and away at Millwall and Yeovil. Their only defeat coming away to Ipswich.

So, taking that as GOSPEL FACT we need to win four and draw the other of our final games. On paper it looks achievable but if the preceding 41 games are any guide then we're not going to do it:down:

Bournemouth the obvious concern but be suprised if they dont slip up a couple of times in the run in . Its what happens.

Well i made it we finish 7, and have the same goal difference as reading.

I got the same 3 way tie on 72 pts as you, only I had us 6th with the better goal difference....

Bournemouth have been on fire as they've had little to play for so are playing with no pressure. It'll be interesting how they play now they're suddenly in the mix... I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped points when they don't expect it

As per the other thread:

I think we probably just about edge it in terms of the supposed 'easiest' run-in.

Charlton are the only side we have left to play who have shown decent-ish form and are still in a bit of a dog-fight. A win for them on Saturday would probably see them safe, so they've got a good incentive. After them we go to Huddersfield who have fallen into a nasty rut - particularly at home; then Blackpool at The Amex who are in turmoil - the fans are more interested in getting Oyston out than what's happening on the pitch currently; followed by Yeovil on Easter Monday, who will likely already be relegated (if not it'll be a miracle scenario); then last of all Forest, who are also on a terrible run and could well be out of the play off picture themselves. If they are I daren't say it but I think they could be a good side to play - demoralised, season blown-up in their face, nothing to play for, apathetic home fans.

The game I'm least confident about is Charlton. If we pick up 3 points on Saturday, we've got 4 games after that I'd fancy our chances of getting at least 9 from. Would leave us with 73 in total which I think would be enough.

Saturday is massive, and will be the toughest of our remaining games IMO.
