The Championship is a much better league than we ever gave it credit for, most teams play good passing football and it is pleasing on the eye. Everyone on thier day is capable of beating anyone.

It is a great challenge and I feel we are holding our own in most games.

I'm glad there's a few people who think the same. I've loved every minute of every game I've seen this season (fortunately I didn't go to the Palace game). We've beaten Pompey away, had great cup games against two Premiership sides, the 3-3 draw against Leeds... It goes on. Fabulous days

Brilliant point. It's great knowing that pretty much every games is against an established big club, which makes victory all the sweeter. Making an effort to go to as many away games this year as possible.

in skys daytime build up to promote tonights game they showed a clip of us being beaten at home at withdean by stockport a few seasons ago 2-4 , if anybody needed reminding just how far how quickly this football club has come in those few short years then that clip was it . I dont give a flying f*** about people who smoke in the bogs , leave a bit early , go to the match without informing their boyfriends, We just played West Ham at home in front of 20k in a state of the art stadium with a side that included full international players ,yeah we got beat, but give me that scenario any day of the week rather than that 2-4 at withers in front of 6k , roll on brum

That Stockport game was brilliant entertainment, mind you!

I feel this league is our natural home. Prem would be a nice bonus, but all in good time. Let's enjoy the ride.

Well done for starting this thread, NSC has been unbearable at times over the past 24 hours with all the deluded moaning.

Really enjoying every moment of the Amex experience. Just happy to see a better quality of football in a quality stadium. Would be happy to finish mid table.

OP couldn't agree more.
Thought I was only one enjoying every match,( after reading all the doom and gloom posts on other threads), due to great football, even if results not exactly as wished.
As said, we have only just come up from L1 and difference in footballing styles is now very entertaining.
Roll on Birmingham on Saturday, am sure I will enjoy visit (new ground for me), whatever the result.

Back in the 80's and early 90's (and yes, I can remember further back than that!), I really thought we had established ourselves as a division 2 (aka the Championship) side........now I'm just glad we're in the Championship, not as a little team punching above our weight, but one that fits in here

Yep the quality of the football is so much better to watch than league 1 to watch and remembering our previous visits to the championship I guess we have to ask taking away the new ground how much better are the team than before neither Booby Z nor Leon K scored that many and they were as good as CMS, Hoskins, Buckley etc, goals were the problem then and still are plus those defensive lapses which cost us dear back then too.

The squad is better this time, for sure but of the 11 that take to the field, most are league 1 players, so I guess anything between bottom the 4 and mid table would be a good finish, massive spending on new players or wages is not advisable in the first season up, until Gus understands this division, of which he has no experience as a 'manager'.

This thread has given me an unexpectedly pleasant read. Everyone has been positive and optimistic. Rightly so too.

Great posting guys. Isnt it a nice feeling going to a home game against west ham thinking we've got a chance of winning. Didn't think I would be saying that 5 years ago.

I, too, think the games have been brilliant, despite the recent results. Great entertainment. I recorded the West Ham game and watched it back yesterday. We were brilliant, and a bit unlucky with our chances. Beagrie reckoned that Gus will have to change our style of play - rubbish! Gus will get our team playing his way and stabilise us mid table.
Other posters on here are quite right, it will take time to make significant progress in this division. Everyone just needs a bit of patience.

Enjoying the positivity of this thread and would agree that the experience of this season is light years away from League 1 / Withdean.

Swansea got out of the Championship playing it our way. Gus seems to have got the defence shored up - and the only thing that was missing from the West Ham game was someone with the guile to find some space and provide a killer pass. Vicente could have made all the difference on Monday.
