I always used to buy Justin Georcelin from Northampton as he looked a quality striker for the future. I also once signed a Danish player called Carsten Olsen if I was managing a lower league club as he was quality on my game!

Cheers Perry, in the meantime I might try and find myself a copy of CM 00/01, don't think my intellect or managerial skills are up to the more recent versions.

Ah happy days, I remember signing Simon Davies from Peterboro for £300k and he went on to a glittering career captaining Juventus and winning the European Cup. Gareth Jellyman was class too

I remember the first ever CM in 1996; you had to load it from DOS.

Craig Maskell used to bang them in from everywhere.

Agreed BYF, 01/02 Was brilliant, easily the best. Tonton was superb, banged in goals everywhere, Carlos Alberto was superb too, (he was a little known brazilian fella plucked from the depths of the archives).

After all this talk I loaded up 01/02 last night having never played it on my new pc. It's amazing, it's so bloomin quick where as on the old pc it sometimes took an age if you chose too many leagues.

Only got to spend 30 mins but decided to start with the Albion as always and already got Tonton on board. I always have the problem though that I seem to have to spend about 2 days making player changes before I even get to start playing the first matches!

I've just loaded this back up on my laptop. Wow, it runs fast!
I haven't got my old games, so I'm starting afresh .... just need to try to remember the cheats.

It's sheer class. Don't know why I didn't think of loading thios back up months ago.

BYF, in fact, I don't think I ever did discover cheats on this version, I was thinking of CM3.

Tonton Zola Mokouko legend. On that version you could play 31412 and tear holes in defenders. I remember i had robbie keane playing in the hole on that version and he got 50 in a season.

My favourite player was Bakirciouglu from Hammarby. He actually made it into the sweden team in the real world as well.

I used to sign him, ibrahimovic from malmo, mokouko, cherno samba etc. Happy days.

i am sad enough to say i have had every version since Championship manager '93 on my Amiga 600. Dwight Yorke was a 18 year old left winger on that game and Beardsley still played!

I often think if i had put the time i have spent on champ man (football manager) i really could have achieved greater things in life.

Getting FM 07 tomorrow as a present from my girlfriend for completing my MA dissertation!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Oh god! Another loser like me. Champ Man has got me two marriages and three major relationships I can still remember signing the old pros Beardsley and Barnes on free transfers.

My best ever team won everything and my abiding memory of winning Europe at the first attempt the year after promotion against Real Madrid and Nicky Rust saved three penalties in the shoot out. It was two am in the morning and a grown man cried!
