What more can you tell them ?
Most of India know your account numbers and sort codes.
Nigeria knows your mobile phone number.
The DVLA know where you've been in your car.
The DHSS know how much money you've got.
There soon won't bemuch left to hide

So, if you've told that lot everything, what have you got against telling people who can do something for you with it.

No, don't put Jedi. If you don't believe in an invisible beardy bloke , just put no religeon. then the christians, jews, muslims and all thier feeble minded ilk will have less influence on policies like schools and government.

or, the government or statisticians should consider all non-official reponces as a "no religion" answer, rather than assume we have religious belief by default.

Yep, unless you want to fund another Pope visit with your taxes tick the no religion box. Jedi was amusing 10 years ago.

These.

and this:

ADD YOUR religion as 'Jedi' on the Census to ensure in 100 years time your descendants know for sure you were a sad bell end.

How do they know that a household has received the form?
There is a £1000 fine for not sending it back but how do they know I received it?

Well my dyslexic postman delivered it to next door. Good job I regularly burgle my neighbours.

It would also be almost impossible to prove someone guilty in court, they rely on the odd one they pick on pleading guilty.

1. If a questionnaire is not returned, reminders will be sent out to households, and census staff will visit and offer to help householders complete their questionnaire

2. If the householder continues to refuse, information will be forwarded to the census office. A letter will be sent, along with a replacement questionnaire, to enable householders to complete the questionnaire

3. If the householder continues to refuse, census officers will make a final visit. They will offer to help the householder complete the questionnaire

4. If the householder continues to refuse, the case will be referred to solicitors. Prosecutions will take place in magistrates’ courts. Successful prosecutions will result in a fine of up to £1,000 and a criminal record.

I think they have it covered, might as well just fill it in and send it back.

If you don't return it, they will assume it didn't arrive and will send somebody round with a spare one and an offer to help fill it in. If you decline the offer of help, they give you a couple of weeks to fill it in then send somebody round with a third one and another offer of help to fill it in. If you still don't fill it in they will post you a fourth one and if you don't return that, then they will fine you. There were about 40 odd people fined last time round. It doesn't ask anything that isn't already on record for some company or other, it takes about 5 minutes, and they pay the people that visit houses 7 quid an hour out of your tax money so it's in your interests to give those people as little work as possible.

Sunday 27th.

At least thats when you're supposed to fill the forms in.

Anyone know why one question is Titled:

This question is delberately left blank?

Apparently they use the same template for the Welsh census and that one includes the question "Do you speak Welsh?" in that space

Well, they should, but they don't. Don't really see the point of 'wacky' answers on a census anyway.

It's a question about whether you speak Welsh (for the ones that aren't blank).
Presumably they think no Welsh people might live in England. Either that or people can't be trusted to write no without going on about Star Wars or something.

And in that space the Scottish ones have a question for Scottish Gaelic and Scots. Presumably the Northern Irish ones have a similar question.

Cheers for that.

Although i am half Welsh i would of at least liked the oppurtunity to write No in.

"No, I don't live here. The occupier is out"
"who are you"
"none of your business"

goes in the bin

3. If the householder continues to refuse, census officers will make a final visit. They will offer to help the householder complete the questionnaire

"No habla inglese. adios"

4. If the householder continues to refuse, the case will be referred to solicitors. Prosecutions will take place in magistrates’ courts. Successful prosecutions will result in a fine of up to £1,000 and a criminal record.

Whom will they summons ? The census isn't sent to a named individual.

I will fill in the bits I don't mind them knowing and refuse the rest. Mrs H will then call me an obstinate nob and fill in the rest (if she hasn't already) and send it in.

I really don't mind the information gathering and I can see the relevance, I'm just obsessively recalcitrant, always have been.

So your houshold will be completing the census then, jolly good. Somthing of a round about way of explaining how you're doing it though.

Have you actually looked at the form. I think I have to fill in my name a couple of times and tick 3 or 4 boxes - it took about 2 mins. There's nothing invasive there, just the optional religion question. If you really don't want people to know how many bedrooms your house has, that's a bit odd.

They'll probably discount it and send you another one then. They should certainly fine anyone who's census they receive before the census date.

I'm not planning on building an extra bedroom before Sunday, so I suspect the answers will be the same.
