Well I didn't think a home nations would happen next summer and in the future I think we will have too many games to be involved anyway

It should be pretty good without England, we would only spoil it for the others anyway...don't think our fans are particularly welcome in Glasgow, Cardiff, Belfast or Dublin...best we don't get involved in something that could easily jeopardise our attempts to qualify for the World Cup.

Though I have to admit that our fans did behave themselves remarkably well in the last two World Cups and Euros...so maybe I am looking a bit on the gloomy side.

Can't say that I'm disappointed that England aren't getting involved in the "We Can't Qualify for Proper Tournaments" Cup. At least it shows some degree of ambition.

even if we used it to play "lesser players" would be a good chance for players to prove themself on a competeive international level.

All right, here's a challenge for NSC. Let's come up with a team of Cornishmen. I'll get the ball rolling: Nigel Martyn as goalkeeper (doesn't matter that he's no longer playing; the present England team wouldn't do any better than the retired players would).

In fairness when England played in Cardiff and Belfast during the last World Cup qualifiers there were no major incidents. To be honest coming out of the Milenium Stadium, most of the English fans were just heading for the station and it was the Welsh fans that seemed to be more interested in looking for trouble.

I would guess the FA have distanced themselves from this on the basis that it would be 3 or 4 fixtures extra in a non tournament summer. However in reality, the FA can make more money from a tour to Dubai or the Far East during these summers.

It's a pointless, idiotic tournament. It will be played to half empty grounds at best, with "top" players rested, and both club managers and players will be annoyed at not getting a proper rest. There are already far too many games in the European calendar and players need proper time off.

yeah, if players don't get a proper rest during the summer, their wage might drop to under £1,000/minute pro rata.

bless.

They should have done it instead od meaningless friendly matches throughout the year, least there would be a bit of bite in them.

However there is some value in playing friendlies against the top sides (Brazil, Argentina, France, Italy etc), where as playing the same sides maybe somewhat regressive.

We do tend to play the same sides in friendlys as well.
We always seem to be playing Spain or Italy
