It would appear not in the toilet cubicles whilst someone's smoking a fag.

It won't be long before there's CCTV in toilets - pubs, clubs, football grounds etc. Of course the government will say it's to cut crime on drug taking or rape.

I'd be interested to know the cost-benefit analysis of this. In reality, how often is there actually any trouble that is deemed worthy? Bear in mind there's 20,000 decent fans and a handful of idiots at worst. By and large we police ourselves and there are plenty of stewards around I think a lot of CCTV at matches is unnecessary.

It's all part of the Big Brother society that we live in where they trot out the old mantra "if you've done nothing wrong then you've nothing to hide". I'd turn it around on its head - "if I'm minding my own business then you've no reason to be snooping on me".

And the police get really aggressive if you whip out your iPhone and film them being a bit heavy handed. Come on boys, remember, if you have done nothing wrong then you have nothing to hide.

Outside of football grounds, I think CCTV is over-rated, as the riots proved. Inside them, it has been a huge deterrent to hooliganism and you can't put a price on that. It wouldn't take many idiots to drag football's reputation back into the early 80s.

I think there are a number of contributing factors as to why football violence is no longer a major issue inside grounds and CCTV is, in my opinion a small part of it. A larger part is the very severe penalties if convicted and all seater stadia making the major part of it.

a couple of people were ushered out by a steward Saturday and they never returned, not sure if he had been tipped off by surveillance or if a complaint had been made from someone near by , can't pick your nose these days

If you're talking about the two blokes taken out of West Stand Lower, they were probably part of a group who have, at every home match so far, been using foul and abusive language right through the match, from the word go.

We've got a similar group right next to us, carrying on in exactly the same way (despite the fact they have small kids with them). We're all for people having a good time and a bit of banter, but these people go too far and it's intimidating to many of the supporters around. You expect the old expletive, but not every other word!!?

We don't intend to be subjected to it for the whole season and have made a complaint to our nearest steward, have to say he was very sympathetic and assured that they are on to it. He mentioned there was another group a bit further back from us and it must have been from there that these blokes were ejected. So, whoever complained about them well done.

But, can the fact that there's 20,000 decent fans and only a handful of idiots be attributed to banning orders as a result of CCTV? It must be a deterrent to acting like an idiot, knowing that if you do, you will probably get caught and banned.

I see, give the stewards an excuse to act like hitlers. They are safety stewards and are not there to pander to over sensitive whiners.

is big brother watching you ???

I sit close by, to the 3 decks of senior police and match security officials have a stack of screens and other gadgets in their new glass box. Must be loving it compared to their hutch at Withdean.
The senior cop also uses binoculars (to scan for totty?!). :lolol:

When the second goal went in half the people around me were giving gestures to the away end so if the lad got kicked out for that I'm shocked! It's football ffs

Will be a mass of ground-ejections against Palace then. Will they be even-handed against their 'offenders' too?

It's going to be very useful for the Palace game, there are going to be plenty of idiots on that day.

so if your lucky enough to have a few mates around you or you found yourself ideally placed in an area where people sing and shout your okay, if you're on your own and you get up from your seat and swear, someone around you will complain to stewards.
