Did anyone else on here use to use CB radio?

My Mum recently moved to the west country and dug out my old radio and magmount aerial, would it be worth setting it up again or is it completly obsolete?

Also, what was your handle?

I did many, many years ago back in Worthing.

'Jetman' was me.

I started using it in about 94 when it was pretty much dying but there was still a lot of people using it on a regular basis. My handle was 'mad rat'

What was the futhest you ever managed to pick up? I remember people being genuinely upset because they we're moving to the other side of the North Downs and wouldn't be able to speak to their 'mates' I never got the impression the range was that great!

I remember some of the lingo such as...
What's your 20 (location)
10-1 set up (having a crap rig/set up)
19'r roger (calling on channel 19)
how many candles are you burning (strength of signal)
have an eyeball (meeting someone)

Anyone remember any more?

Also, what did you say if you wanted to join in a chat on a channel? Was it Q S K?

Thanks Greens :(
Once in the early 80's when they were illegal, me and a mate who were sitting in my jalopy chatting to some pals on the CB at a high-up beauty spot were given a lecture about homosexuality by a passing panda-car policeman. I almost coughed about the hidden CB out of embarrassment

This thread has vrought back some ace memories.

I was into CB Radion in the mid 90's and it was quite popular then.

My handle was at first "Falcon One",but them some guy called Derek Stingray called me a "Shitbag" for CB based TROLLING and it kinda stuck so i officialy retired from CB'ing as "Shitbag".

I used to spend pretty much all my youth sitting up ditchling road or up at the racecourse in the evenings.
