Salami Pizza in 1901 was actually very nice. Some confusion over which table number orders were for but all fine other than that. Guessing the Amex isn't immune from the problem of hiring that many other companies seem to have.

In the WSU there was a sign up about low staff numbers and to be patient.

Anyway, I just wanted to congratulate the catering team for putting on the most Brighton-ish concourse offering they could:

Smokey Paprika, Bean & Pepper Cassoulet (V, GF)

Tremendous work all round. Anyone have it?!?


Is this in the outlets nearer the middle?

I walked up the stairs, turned left, veggie pie.
Job done.

Might need to explore next week

Entered WSU from south end and walked past first outlet which was quiet. Popped into the gents and then went to middle outlet which is closer to my stand … but queues much much bigger … so walked back down to the end I came in at … one person in front of me! Chicken, gammon and leek pie and cuppa … then straight out to my seat!

Wish we had noodle bars. I am thinking that would make a nice change.

I have wished and thought of many many things at football games; a noodle bar has never been one of them.

Anyway, back to the staff. I presume they are on minimum wage, lets say £10 and hour. But for how long do they work. Training must be given to use the tills, do they put the pies in place?
What is their working day and pay?

Friend's kid works there for matches. They get a little more than minimum wage and they do about 6 hours on match days. "Training" is they get shown a few things and then chucked in the deep end. Great for teens/students to make a bit of extra cash occasionally.

Long queues in ESU pre match and half time. Clearly a shortage of staff. Sure it will improve I'm coming weeks.

I didn't get into the NS concourse until after 5pm and it was rammed, the queues were very long and not moving so I went straight to my seat and spent the match singing, shouting and chanting on a very dry throat (not recommended). After the game I still queued for half an hour to get a drink (waiting for the train queue to die down, not because I'm an alchi).
It seems that only half the tills were in operation.
It can only get better.
The only consolation were a group of fans ramming latex gloves onto peoples' heads - "we're going to win the league......" (You had to be there)..

first game back in 18 months, a win on the pitch, 2nd in the league, best ever start to a top flight season, must be hard to find fault, so lets pick on catering, there is always something there to gripe about

Football Stadium catering is not like running a Macdonalds, with a fairly even spread of customers over an extended period of time. Its basically bugger all and then 30 000 descend wanting pies and pints in 3 or 4 very short time frames. The staff are required for only around 25 times a season, and have had virtually no practice, so its a steep learning curve There is no way it can be done without long queuing

Add on top the almost certain number absent due to isolation at short notice, most will be new to the job with only the Getafe game for experience, then anyone expecting a hassle and queue free experience is simply not thinking

Catering will get more efficient every game, it always does every season , its impossible to practice before hand so the only way to get better is to actually do the job. so at least for the first few games while they get up to speed give them a chance!

In the promotion year Norwich away guy in front of me ordered 12 pints yes TWELVE I thought that's it no chance in getting a drink before kickoff , they came out in about 90 secs .Yes it was bottled rather than keg but they certainly poured them super quick.
