here and there
I'm not coming back to this thread now, because I'm just gonna get pissed off at people who are cruel to animals.

Obviously it makes some people feel big and clever to injure and possibly kill a household pet. Well done to those people, nice one

Starry, I didn't realise you kept livestock so please accept my apologies.

Yep, that was close eh? I too thought he was a complete wanker for killing animals in traps but seeing as he has livestock its OK isn't it.

My sincere apologies too for thinking you were a complete wanker

I have a cat, it isn't mine but the bugger has decided to come and live with me as the Kids make such a fuss of it. I even had to buy Whiskas the other day as "it doesn't like the other stuff" It's not my cat, no one listens, why do i bother.

Jesus people we are talking about a living animal here!

The cat that you've 'trapped' or booted or squeezed colmans up its ring piece is someone's PET, that is loved by a family, a small child, old folk who cherish its company.

Yes cat's shit in gardens its one of those things, but dog's shit on the pavement and people leave it there so we could do the whole cat v dog thing all night.

Don't hurt cat's, if you are unhappy about a cat using your garden as a toilet (and who wouldn't be?) spend a few quid on a deterrent like the high pitch alarm and you address the problem and no moggies get hurt.

I have a cat and my neighbour has one of those alarm things, mainly because there is a simpsonesque mad lady down the road with 8 of the feckers and they work, my cat never sets foot in his garden.

And a tip for you cat owners, if you want to be considerate and you've got the garden room then stick in a little border / corner and fill it with woodchip. I've got one and the cat shits in it then buries it. We've lost a small piece of the lawn butthe cat has somewhere to unload his lamb chunks in jelly where its not going to get picked up by my daughter nor piss off my neighbours.

And I am a cat convert by the way, hated the fuckers until I gave in to my wife's persistence, now I think they are fantastic pets.

Well said, I could not agree more

Best ploy is a package of the following:

Lion dung pellets - get from local DIY garden centre
Chilli powder around entrance points to garden and where the cat is crapping
Orange peel

Cat crapping is territorial:

So shooting them and/or the dog just want work.

We have cats but others crap in our garden to set their territory and ours crap to protect!!!

Back to the foxes, why do it Paddy?

Each time you catch a fox, its replaced by the next one, you can't exterminate them all?

Get a dog.
Set dog on any cat that dares to stray into garden.
Job done, naturally by food-chain ranking, and if the dog catches the cat it'll save on dog-food.

That rather depends on the cat, we used to have one that was known on occasion to beat the crap out of dogs, and not just the small ones.

Naturally? Feline certainly trumps canine naturally. It is only the unnatural domesticated animals that would see a reverse in roles.

Funny all these people getting upset about killing a cat, do they feel its ok for said cats to play with birds/mice etc slowly killing them before presenting them to their master as a show of effection.

What really annoys me is when cat owners discuss with excitement how their flea bitten moggy woke them up early with the head of a bird, with the rest of it on the kitchen floor and they then have a right laugh about it.

Laugh about it! I find it very distressing to find a dead field mouse at home that my cat has brought in as a 'reward'. Or even worse one that's badly injured and clearly in a lot of distress.

Your argument is completely flawed. Cat's are programmed to hunt, that's what they do. Humans aren't programmed to hurt domestic animals.

It's not just the dogs, what about the cats?

I'm getting really fed up with the fact that I am constantly finding piles of cat shit in my back garden. I too have young kids and the last thing I expect is for them to be unable to play in their own garden because some cat has decided to take a dump there. Often it's not just one lot, there are often 3 or 4 piles of crap top deal with. :censored::censored::censored:

But what can I do, I don't suppose I'm allowed to shoot every cat that comes into my garden. Surely there must be some way of forcing cat owners to make sure their cats don't crap in my garden or have I just got to put up with it?

I could say you just have to put up with it as any abuse of a cat or any animal for that fact is really not the way to go with the new animal welfare law and as the law stands at this moment cats are considered semi-wild animals and allowed to roam just about anywhere.

just a quick edit a guy who thought it was ok to shoot a cat with his air gun just got 12 months

heres a tip for you lemon peel in your garden or get a gardening mag find the advert for ROAR its dried lions poo and it really works a treat.
thank you and my six cats send there regards

Yeah, get yourself a cat and it'll fight off the other cats that shit in your garden.

Good plan

.

If you've got children they'll love it and it'll give them some responsibility too.
They can be expensive though (cats I mean)....Vets etc.
I love cats, absolutely hate their shit, don't want one, but don't want to harm one either.
I ended up concreting over my back yard, the pepper or garlic deterrent doesn't last long.

to keep them away from my livestock. we took out the whole set before christmas and so far nothing. so for now we are good to go. but when they return we will just do the same, it keeps them away from my livestock and that is all i am worried about. the traps are all paid for, might as well keep on using them.
