Cat A and Cat B games

With the new NE corner seats arriving next year, it is likely that for games against smaller clubs, when we have the whole of the south, the new corners and the few hundred in the WSL to sell, they will not all go.

I wonder if the club have thought about making the games for Cat B opposition a couple of quid cheaper?

Also, match day sales would help. The club could even justify a quid or two more for these - appreciate a change of planning is needed.

I would suggest all are cat B apart from:-

Sheff Wed
Millwall (50/50)
Birmingham
Leicester
Leeds
Palace
Charlton
Forrest (50/50)

So you don't think the club should reduce prices from £38 or whatever if we get Crewe at home in the next round of the league cup?

I was just thinking that categories, done right, are the opposite of profiteering.

However, I suppose you could look at it as if they can offer Category B games at the reduced rate then why can't Category A games be at that price? I think though that Category B games (or whatever) aren't priced down to make a profit, but to reduce the loss being made.

Not sure whether you mean have the been previously, in which case the answer is no, the OP was talking hypothetically, or where have they been, in which case, the answer is loads of places, e.g. Leeds, Palace and Liverpool last season.

Technically they are, but only for different competitions. I thought some of the League Cup games last season were cheaper than the Championship fixtures, I may be wrong however.

Because they don't make money by giving the tickets away. If they lower prices to fill more of the stadium then they may make a profit, or at least less of a loss.

Short term view. If they can't sell seats for less attractive games then why not give them away to kids - the fans of the future?

They certainly should give some away, I've seen a few negative views on the way the club handles tickets for clubs and schools at the moment. However, there's a limit on the number you can give away without devaluing the game and the tickets.

Agreed and categorising matches is miles away from reducing prices for everyone for individual fixtures in different competitions. I would be quite happy for the club to reduce prices for everyone in the FA Cup and League Cup matches, but to reduce or increase prices in certain seating areas in certain matches in the Football League is morally wrong.

Yes, I suppose you're right. Informally categorising based on opposition in cup matches seems perfectly reasonable, but doing so in the league is odd really isn't it? I think it's perhaps more understandable in the Premier League, although not very nice, but in the Championship and below it shouldn't happen in league matches.

I don't think categorisation in any league competition is fair to be honest, all it does is exploit home and away football fans and should be banned.
