Don't have too much against Carragher....was interested to hear yesterday on Radio 5 that the Premiership player who has scored the most goals against Liverpool is Jamie himself (7 own goals) :)

No Thomas, I'll tell you why Liverpool won't win the league this season. Or any other season. It's the bearded twat in the dugout. I've said it before and I'll say it again - he is one of the worst managers in the Prem.

Really??
Open your eyes mate your opinion is flawed behond belief!

Chumps like Lucas instead of quality like Alonso is a RESULT of the moronic Spaniard. How can a team whose second best striker is Voronin be taken seriously? Jesus, Liverpool will be lucky to finish 6th with the shit they've got.

People were assuming that Arsenal for some reason would be the weakest of the top 4 teams, however Liverpool are going to struggle to get in the top 4 they have already lost 3 games.

I would take spurs forwards ahead of Liverpools any day.

I'll have a bet with anyone on NSC that Liverpool finish in the top 4.

I don't think its all down to Carragher through, it down to Rafa dodgy discision making. What does he see in Lucas? Why did he sell Xabi Alonso and bring in a Italian player who was carrying a injury and hasn't even been heard of since?! Why does he keep players such as Benayoun and Babel on the bench? Why did he play Insua against Chelski instead of Fabio Aurelio who is the more experienced of the two. if Torres and Gerrard get injured then Liverpool are well and truly screwed.

Well they have spent more money than Liverpool.

I reckon he would have more than a chance getting into your team. Saying that, my dog died 2 yers ago and he is rotting faster than your back 4.

He has been good over the past years but seems to be struggling as of late. Even Rafa has had a couple of little digs at him in the press - this would never have happened a couple of years ago... Maybe he isn't so invinsible now. He's never been able to pass either...

In Benitez's defence, he attempted to sign Vidic before Manyoo but Parry & co didn't act quickly enough same with Villa BEFORE he joined Valencia (I understand they had a bid accepted before Valencia came in for him). Now they are gone we may see him sign some gems. Also, hes hardly been granted the extravagant funds Chelsea and Manyoo have...

Carragher is getting on a bit now (over thirty?) and if in the next two or three years he starts to find top flight football a bit too much, he's the sort of player I'd love to see coming down here to add a couple more seasons at the end of career - a genuine replacement for all the good things that Butters did in bringing on and steadying the youngsters, and also a much better player.

That used to happen 20 + years ago but not anymore as players earn so much during their time at a top club that they do not need the money or the hassle that goes with playing lower league football.

Seriously mate, do you support Liverpool or something?

Every time someone slags off a scouser (usually gerrard) you always appear.

Seems a little odd.

I like to see Liverpool do well as I'm the son of a Liverpool fan, but I also don't know how you can say that Liverpool are shit in the league when they came so close to winning it last time out.

blah blah, Carragher and (insert other Liverpool player) is shit, Benitez is a crap manager, theres only two good players at Liverpool and one is a wanker, blah blah.

If Benitez manages to get such an apparently shit team into the top 4 years after year and to the final stages of EC, then surely the team must be a brilliant group of players? either he is a good manager, the players are actually quite good (though flawed), or maybe a bit of both. i cant really see how people can claim otherwise.

You also have the uncanny ability to slag United players off....

I reckon what badge was getting at is that Liverpool should have won the league by now, instead of bottling it like they did last season

Yeah, because I have an irrational hatred for Utd, which I make no apologies for whatsoever. Why does it matter anyway? I'm flattered you notice what I post to be honest!

They probably should have won the league by now, and I think if they were going to win it it was last season. They seem out of it already this season and are desperately missing Alonso.

What? I'll assume you're asking why I hate Utd and "love" Liverpool. For a start, I don't "love" Liverpool but as I said my Dad has been a huge fan of them over the years. He used to tell me about watching them and showed me videos of them and things like that when I was younger. So, before I was old enough to not be embarrassed to admit to support someone who is as shit as we were about 12 years ago, they were my team. Since then, I have retained a soft spot for them and wished them well.

As for United, I just get sick of their perpetual success. And for such a successful club, they moan more than any other club in the country. As I said, it's not a particularly rational hatred, I just don't like the way they conduct themselves.

Lucas is f***ing woeful.
Benitez replacing Alonso by paying £20 million for an unheard of player who is out for 2 months was a masterstroke.

Unheard of? He scored a winner against Real Madrid in the Champions League at the Bernabeu! Alberto Aquilani isn't unheard of to those of us who pay attention to football outside of England. £20million is a joke, and so is Lucas. Truly pathetic.

I have to agree with the Badger, though I don't need to start throwing names around. Rafa Benitez won't ever win the Premier League because he doesn't understand it and his philosophies and beliefs when it comes to player selection and transfer policy basically mean he can't do bugger all. He spent £16million this summer on a right back who is pretty damn good I grant you, but £16million? When you don't have any backup for Torres? I couldn't even tell you who the number 2 goalkeeper is now that Charles Itandje has been flogged (Diego Cavalieri actually, the South American) and as far as I can tell, Glen Johnson has no competition at right back whatsoever since Arbeloa was sold in the summer. The squad is crap, but for the core. Reina is world class in goal (people will disagree, but I think he's class), Carragher is a top class centre back (I disagree with this thread because only Drogba makes him look anything other than top class), Mascherano is an absolute dynamo in the midfield, Gerrard is obviously world class and Torres speaks for himself. But the back up... christ! Ryan Babel, £11million!!! What a joke, Van Persie cost what, half of that? Andriy Voronin was one of Rafa's famed freebies, enough said about that. They have a poor squad from front to back and whilst their strongest team might be a match for most clubs, the back ups are truly average.

I've nothing against Liverpool, I just don't like Rafa Benitez or the squad he has assembled. I also don't like how negative he is as a manager, the ability to tear Hull apart not withstanding. I can see Liverpool finishing 5th for the second time in his reign, and I think that will mean the end for him.

Good post. The team is undeniably good, but the squad really should be a lot better.
