at fault for arguably BOTH of chelseas goals today, couldnt break into the england team as a centre back so decided to QUIT, the sort of player who is only liked by liverpool fans because he is one of only TWO that actually come from merseyside

pundits seem to WANK over him because he never gives up and gives 100% - if ANY liverpool fan was given the chance to play at anfield in a premiership game they would blatantly do the same

he maybe just good enough for a team in the europa league, if not certainly for one of those teams that just float around midtable doing f*** all

if liverpool have serious ambitions about winning anything major, then they seriously need to consider dropping him from their first choice 11

I've thought this for many years. The man is a complete clown. Put him up against a top class striker like Drogba and he will be shown up for what he truly is - an overrated scouse twat. Threw his toys out of the pram and flounced from the England team when he realised he had no chance of getting in ahead of the far superior Terry and Ferdinand.

Very true. No pace, not particular strong in the air and his distribution is awful. Thank god he retired from international football!

This season he has been shit, granted, and I'm not surprised the closet anti-Liverpool dicks have all come out in force. He has been top class for years (although admittedly struggling against Drogba). However, Liverpool now need to replace him.

Chumps like Lucas instead of quality like Alonso is a RESULT of the moronic Spaniard. How can a team whose second best striker is Voronin be taken seriously? Jesus, Liverpool will be lucky to finish 6th with the shit they've got.

correct

i was racking my brains during todays game trying to work out who their 2nd best striker was

the fact that its voronin is probably why i couldn't remember

The reason they're ok in cups but shit in the league is because of the ludicrous squad-building strategy undertaken by Benitez. They're basically WHOLLY reliant on Gerrard and Torres being fit and in form. Also, in fairness, they have a decent keeper and Mascherano too. But that's it. FOUR good players, only two of which could be described as top quality. That's pathetic for a supposedly big club. And Rafa has spent hundreds of millions of pounds, so why haven't they got more good players? Basically, because he buys shit. If I were Liverpool manager I'd be thoroughly embarrassed of that squad being the product of five YEARS work. Even Gerrard he didn't have to buy. To think you can get away with Torres and literally no other striker capable of scoring 10 goals is mental. To think you can have no decent wide players for five seasons in a row is ludicrous.

And that's why, if Gerrard and Torres are firing, they can beat anyone in a one-off game, but over the course of a season their MASSIVE shortcomings will always be exposed. If he hadn't fluked the champions league the Spanish conman would have gone years ago.

So why were they four points off the title last season? :fishing:

One thing Rafa seems to have done since arriving at Liverpool is to get rid of English speaking players (in favour of getting a mainly Spanish speaking team). I'm sure he'd have got rid of Gerrard and Carragher too, except for one thing - they're both so bl**dy good he wouldn't dare too!
Carragher is getting on a bit now (over thirty?) and if in the next two or three years he starts to find top flight football a bit too much, he's the sort of player I'd love to see coming down here to add a couple more seasons at the end of career - a genuine replacement for all the good things that Butters did in bringing on and steadying the youngsters, and also a much better player.
