So sad news. Seven years is a long long time to have that crap hanging over your head. She's got a couple of young kids as well. RIP

Cancer shows no prejudice. A terrible thing whoever is the victim, but for those who die from it so young, such as Caron, makes it even worse. So sad.

Terrible news. Cancer seems to be claiming more and more people. If I had one wish in the world, I wish they could find a cure.

Caron was apparently diagnosed with breast cancer at 35, and lost her battle six years later. Its just so indescriminate, it can happen to anyone. My other half is 33 - couldn't stand the thought of losing her like this.

2004 and they STILL can't find a bloody cure for it.

Saw the news flash up on the big screen at Victoria station yesterday about 4pm and it was very moving. Can remember her well from Blue Peter days and very sombering thought that she was only 10 years older than me

Nice tribute from BBC:

Sadly, Caron Keating has just died at the age of 41, after losing a battle with breast cancer. Our condolences go out to her family and friends.

The daughter of presenter Gloria Hunniford and BBC producer Don Keating, Caron was destined for a career in television. Sure enough, after a spell presenting in her native Northern Ireland, she soon found herself landing the dream job of presenting Blue Peter.

During her time with the show Caron proved she was game for anything. Amongst her more daring reports, she could be seen jumping under freezing waterfalls, diving with sharks, and abseiling down cliffs and skyscrapers.

This being the 80s, Caron is also fondly remembered for her forays into fashion - both successful and otherwise. There is no truth in the rumour that the creation of the Green Blue Peter badge was in response to Caron's single-handedly trying to destroy the ozone layer with her over reliance on hairspray.

Caron took time out of presenting to look after her two sons, but made a triumphant return to TV in 1996 when she co-presented This Morning, during Richard and Judy's holidays.

She also hosted the consumer affairs programme We Can Work It Out, the magazine show Summer Scene, and co-hosted the series Family Affairs with her mother.

Sadly, at the age of 42, Caron died after losing a battle with breast cancer.
