Having lived in Caroline Lucas Ward for the last 8 years, she has never knocked on my door. Indeed I was having a conversation with neighbours at the council election who said that she had never been seen in our road.
With the students voting at home rather than locally, she would have been vulnerable at the next election..
The lowest number of votes was in Coldean Ward with less than 25% of voters voting, whilst the rest of the City was close to 45-50%
She only won because of the students?

Or maybe she didn’t fancy canvassing a Tory councillor, in much the same way as you never see a Tory in Portslade (or a Palace in Milan)

That's the council's responsibility, not the MPs. (And the i360 isn't even in her constituency).

That's why people, such as my wife, voted Labour locally, but has voted for Lucas as MP. (Not sure what she'll do now. Hopefully I can get her back into the Labour fold full time)
My tongue in cheek response followed GB’s binfest request😀

She has also never had to step down as a candidate for making 'jokes' about Muslims and the disabled ???

This morning on Sky the presenter rudely interrupted her own interview with a Ukrainian defence official about the humanitarian and ecological disaster of the destroyed dam in order to announce this news. It could have waited one minute.

Fair enough!
(Although it is a bugbear of mine that people can't separate local and national politics.)
And mine when people conflate local LibDem Albion related goings on, by declaring they’d never vote LD ever again.
All parties have their rogues and idiots.

I see you've finally decided to change your Argus posting name ! For a bit of balance - only Labour bothered to knock on my door in the recent local election. You'd think given the support people like Dawn Barnett have had over the years they might have actually bothered to knock on doors in Hangleton and Knoll - not even a knock from your mate Timmy. In the last general election not a single party bothered to knock on my door.

There's no way that she'd have lost at the next election - she had a big personal vote. When the Green vote went down after the previous Green-run adminstration, her own vote went up - I see no reason why that should have changed.

She's been a superb MP, a really high profile one and someone who really fought Brighton's corner. I think the next election could well see Labour take the seat, the Greens would have to find a decent candidate and I'm not sure who (unless Jenny Jones resigns her peerage). Caroline was certainly highly visible in Brighton - at least we can say that our MP was only seen at election time.

And she liked my gin & tonic cakes :)

Hangleton has a great Labour councillor, and a big Albion fan.

Brighton Pavilion's Green MP is not standing at next election.

That will be an interesting seat to watch. She's been an excellent MP with a big personal vote, I wonder if Labour will snatch it back
Excellent MP? You really are having a laugh...another obnoxious Green Communista...we have loads of them up here...terrible people not remotely interested in the environment...or more importantly business and commerce.

Get em out the now...

Caplin always banged on to me about when he ‘stepped down’ in Hove he did so believing he would have won at the next election, in the same way we will never know if Ms Lucas’s support would have carried her through at the next election.

Stepped down? Sleazeball.

I see he still hangs around 1901
