she seems to know her shit, but i think a fair amount of her votes will be protest votes

the greens seem to OWN central brighton so i guess it depends on how the BURBS vote

i'm in hove and will probably vote green (bit of a waste i know, but i won't vote for any of the big 3)

i'd be inclined to vote for her even if i don't agree with her, to put a Green in Parliament. cant be a bad thing. and good move tactically.

she's certainly a sensible politician, watched her on Sunday politics show and swiftly moved off green issues to present general policies.

What so that she can spend the afternoon standing up and sitting down, popping her vote on issues that don't affect Brightonians?

She is so socialist it is unbelievable. She will be trying to raise statues of Lenin and Mao before you know it.

Blimey! Great minds think alike!!!

And me. Along with Baker, favours scrapping the roads programme. Two points:

1) What roads programme? Labour have virtually scrapped it anyway, but at least we are to get the A23 finished, plus maybe a few improvements round Chichester.

2) I am a driver, and depend on the car when in Sussex. Yes, in London I can and do use public transport, but there isn't much round WH.

Yes, the economy etc does matter to me and as Smart Mart and MK Seagull have said, she is green on the outside, red on the inside, hence avoid from my point of view, but as a ruralite, transport is a key issue.

Not that it is perhaps relevant to me. I vote in Battersea, and haven't a clue whether I have a Green candidate or not. Only the Tories and Labour have bothered to send me anything, and my voting intention is already decided.

whats the point of voting for any MP when they will vote on issues that dont affect Brightonians? besides, you do know theres more to being an MP than sitting in the commons voting? i ask this seriously as i wonder if the population at large have much idea and isnt about time this was taught in school?

Labour are worried that protest votes for the Greens will actually let in the Tories with a narrow margin in Brighton Pavilion.

They're shitting themselves over it.

I get bumph through from them a lot - and they're convinced that the Greens will finish fourth, on the back of an online Argus poll...

They have a certain level of in-built arrogance (publicly) that Brighton Pavilion is still a straight fight between Labour and the Tories, principally because they know that a lot of the Green vote is from disaffected Labour vote. One look at the political make-up of the City Council, especially to the wards within the Pavilion constituency, ought to tell Nancy Platts that the Green vote is NOT a protest vote; and that it has been quite well established - and growing - over the past 10 years.

I wouldn't say 'all that she could'. She (or rather, the party) was certainly against it, but they also had a policy of accepting whatever the ODPM decision was, irrespective of whether they agreed with it. Certainly I think they made a point of seeing which way the wind was blowing.

Unlike, say, Cuttress or de Vecchi, or the South Downs Beardsmen...

Nowadays she more takes the line of appreciating the benefits of what a successful Brighton & Hove Albion can bring to the city - kind of approach.
