Nice bit of skill but there really is no need for showboating unless we're cruising. 1-1 is not the time for it.

Why not. He was in no danger of losing the ball and it helped raise the atmosphere, every time he got the ball the noise level went up and people stood up. Just the sort of player we need at Withdean.

Indeed.. I also loved that moment where Sully threw the ball long to Carole, who was closely marked by their fullback... he proceeded to flick the ball (first touch) past the man, and was off down the wing... class.:yahoo:

Agreed. A bit of genuine entertainment at last. Well done Seb and welcome back!

We improved immensely when he came on, confidence levels went up and I think the boys looked more relaxed. Quality bit of skill from Carole, had us all in hysterics up in W block :)

And the kids up there loved it, too. Welcome back Seb

I just loved the chap sitting a couple of seats behind me. When Micky took Burchill off for Carole, he went a bit mentalist at MA. "Adams thats it, you've totally lost the f***ing plot", "What a pathetic substitution", "you don't know what you're doing" etc etc.

2 Minutes or so later, who set the first goal up ?

Many a chuckle had by all sat around him

To be fair, that was the general feeling from around the ground as far as I can gather. When the offical held up the numbers board there was certainly a chorus of boos from the South Stand, followed by insults thrown at MA. If I'm honest, I wasn't best pleased at the time that MA was taking off our most productive winger especially as Cox was playing so badly.
But in the end, it turned out to be a good move. Well done Micky :clap2:

Both me and my mate thought it was an obvious substitution to be honest. Nothing against Burchill personally, but he kept getting drawn in to the middle of the park, and was hardly ever on the right where he was supposed to be. A fair few times the defence needed to play the ball out of defence on that side and he just wasn't there.

Whilst that is a little over the top reaction I sort of understand where he was coming from. I am a massive Carole fan and even jokingly said before the game that I will not be interested in the match until he comes on. That said was I disappointed with Chris Birchall coming off as he looked our best player up until that point.

Chatting with the people around me we agreed that it would be better of Birchall played in the centre with David Livermore, or even Jason Jarrett. We could then have Seb Carole on the right and Kevin McLeod on the left to give the team a much better look.

Albion & England forever.

Fair point. I wasn't necessarily advocating taking Burchill off, just not playing him on the right.

Was it just our imagination, or did the ball generally spend a lot more time on the deck once Carole came on, and not just when it was on the right hand side? Andrew had a good game, but up to then the back four (and Sullivan) had just one tactic of lumping it up to him at every opportunity.

Carole made a huge difference in our style of play when he came on and what happened to McLard he went past a player at speed and then delivered a superb cross. The cross we knew he could do but to actually go past a player at speed has been unknown so far. Have the club doctors put him on a crash diet?

The difference was that instead of playing Fat Kev for an hour at the start, Micky played him for quarter of an hour at the end. This could well be the way forward
